As of this morning, 100 neglected sled dogs have a second chance at life.
Today, the SPCA Laurentides-Labelle and Humane Society International (HSI) rescued about 100 sled dogs in the Upper Laurentians. They had been living chained outside without proper food, water or shelter. Many as old as 10 years of age. At least 30 females, pregnant.
The dogs are being brought to an emergency shelter in Val-Morin to receive proper medical attention and rehabilitation. They will then be adopted to loving homes in Canada and the U.S.
As part of the agreement to turn over the animals, the owner will likely not be charged with neglect. If this doesn't sit well with you, please voice your opinion on enforcing tougher animal cruelty laws in Quebec.
