Why do some vegetables have to taste so….bland? Many may disagree, but if so, why do we eat so much junk and not enough healthy food? Why do we choose chocolate over broccoli? Isn't the answer obvious, though…it's better! It tastes better; it smells better, there is easier access, no cooking, no butter and salt to taste….nothing. Just open the package and enjoy the rich, smooth taste of chocolate. And isn't the first bite the best… the creamiest? The scientific breakthrough that dark chocolate is good for you has made men and women all over giggle with glee.
Anyway, now that you're all craving chocolate, let's get to the heart of the reason why veggies are better for your health. First of all, your digestive system is directly related to your immune system. When you eat foods that are processed or unhealthy, your digestive system has to take a break from working on your immunity and break down the food.
But, and this is key, when you eat raw vegetables, your digestive system doesn't have to do a thing. The enzymes in vegetables break themselves down and go right into your bloodstream. All of those vitamins and good enzymes help with your immunity, your eyesight, your skin, nails…all of it.
That is why you are more prone to stay healthy when you are eating vegetables because your body can focus on its immune system rather than spending it's time breaking down food.
Bottom line- all in moderation- veggies, fruit, meat, cookies, chocolate, eat it all, but do so in careful moderation. Another thing to remember is not to do it all at once, and other articles will go into more detail, but don't try to alter your whole diet in a week. Go slowly. Add one fruit or vegetable more to your diet a day, and take out one piece of junk, anything helps! Now, go enjoy a piece of chocolate….you know you want to!
