There are seven candidates running in the upcoming August 4th primary election for the position of mayor for the city of Detroit.

Voter's need to research and scrutinize each candidate looking for the one who is shares similar ideologies, vision, know-how, agenda, etc.

Voters have varying, but key questions that they want to know about each candidate.  Some of the questions that I encountered that residents wanted to know were:

  • What plans do you have to help revitalize the neighborhoods?
  • How do you plan to help attract new business or new industries?
  • What are your plans to help address public safety and police response time?
  • With unemployment so high in Detroit, what if any, plans do you have as far as employment, training, and workforce development?
  • What plans to you have to address the negative complaints of city services?
  • Do you support the mayor taking over the Detroit Public School system at the conclusion of the Emergency Financial Manager's tenure?
  • How do you plan to address the budget deficit and to increase city revenues?

Residents, don't gamble with your vote.  Don't just vote for the most popular candidate.  Don't just vote for the candidate with the most money.  Voters this election, like all elections, is important. This primary election is to determine the top two candidates who will go head-to-head in the November 3rd general election.

F.Y.I :  Please vote for only one candidate for mayor.  Voting for more than one candidate for mayor will disqualify that portion of your ballot.

For more information on each candidate, to volunteer, and/or to donate, please visit and review the following websites.

Dont' forget to research Rosalind "Skip" Russell (write-in candidate).

Don't gamble with your future.  Research the candidates.

Is there a reason that Rosalind Russell election results were not posted? is it that she was not on the ballot? or was she overlooked. if her name was misspelled does that still count?
