Do you remember when Roanoke was the center of the Norfolk & Western universe before the merger with the Southern Railway in 1981?
While there are still reminders of the N&W to be found on today's Norfolk Southern railroad and in museums such as the Virginia Transportation Museum and the O. Winston Link much of the "glory days" of the N&W are gone.
A model railroad can turn the clock back to 1950's when the Class A and Class J locomotives ruled the rails and dieselization was something that other railroads did.
Or maybe you prefer to model the 1970's after the N&W purchased the Nickel Plate and expanded into the mid-west?
Or do you wonder what modern locomotives would look like in a Norfolk and Western paint scheme?
Model railroading opens up all these possibilities.
