Argent Tournment WoW guide, part one

  CHARGE!

I’m pretty sure that there are people out there who are still not taking part in the Argent Tournament dailies in World of Warcraft.  In my own humble opinion, this is like drinking soda without the Jack Daniels.  Or club soda without the gin.  Not only are these dailies good money, but they take a small amount of time to complete, especially when you have as few as one other person to help you.  Benefits include maxing out your reputation with all of the five main old world factions, gaining pets and mounts, and the ability to purchase epic-quality items that are none too shabby for the price.

Before you begin, you have to do the starting questline.  Once complete, start out with the easy-peasy quests of running around slamming into other mounted opponents in the Ring of Valor/Champions.  Mount up with your Argent Lance equipped, make sure that you have three buffs of defense up (button 4), and go challenge a mofo.  Stay on top of your opponent and hit thrust (button 1) repeatedly.  When your opponent moves away, hit charge (button 3).  You’ll run into them with your lance.  Once you’ve gotten this down, hit charge and then thrust once you’re near them for extra damage.  Always remember to keep your defenses up.  If you’re not at full shields, stay on top of your opponent and hit thrust until you have all three shields up.  Use shield breaker (button 2) on your opponent once you’re comfortable with charging and using thrust, and can find time to mess up their day a little more.

The other quests on the Valorous side of the Argent Tournament are easy but time consuming.  The most irritating dailies involve flying out to other areas to acquire a quest item, then bringing it back to the Tournament.  These quests shouldn’t be ignored, though, as they’ll give you reputation with whatever faction you’re working on, and an easy two Valiant Seals towards the goal of becoming a Champion with said faction.  The quests where you have to kill 10 Icecrown scourge can be combined with killing 15 Icecrown scourge for the quest in the Argent Pavilion.  The same follows for the “Battle Before the Citadel” quests.

Once you’ve gained 25 sigils and turned them in, the faction master will tell you go to challenge a Champion on the far side of the grounds.  Hand their ass to them (see paragraph two), then go turn in the quest.  These quests all require some commitment, but if you stick it through, you’ll be rewarded the title of Crusader, and, if you don’t have it already, Ambassador.  You’ll also unlock the right to purchase special Argent Tournament pets and mounts.

Friday I’ll cover the Argent Pavilion quests, and why Chillmaw is a punk.
