NDoors, known for fantastic games like Atlantica and Luminary just launched closed beta testing for its newest game: Wonderking. Wonderking has gotten much criticism for being too similar to Maplestory. There has been a lot of fighting over which is the better game (even though Wonderking is only in closed beta testing).

To find the item you are looking for on Maplestory, you have to go into this mess and go through every single store, one at a time, on every channel. To actually set up a store yourself, you have to purchase an item from the item mall, for real cash. ...But it's searchable! And anyone can set up shop. This makes buying and selling in game so much easier and less painful.Both in MS and WK there are multiple locations you can go to. In both you have to take a ship to a few places. In Maplestory, you have to wait for the ship to arrive at the dock, then wait the 5 or so minutes for it to make the trip. In WK, the trip is instant. Granted, there is a monster and a quest item on one of the ships, but the travel time is annoying at best.
Sit and wait. Or go grab a drink. You'll be here for a while.Wonderking has PvP, Maplestory does not. Every player in Wonderking can also double jump and dash, which make the PvP interesting.Wonderking is also implementing something that Maplestory seemed to be trying out - Monster Cards. Monsters sometimes drop cards in WK. Gather enough of them, and you can turn into that monster anywhere. This is cute for socializing, and useful for fighting. Maplestory has been hinting at a similar monster card system, only instead of turning the player into the monster, the player would get certain buffs or advantages over that monster.Wonderking allows you to create your weapons. Maplestory recently announced a similar system for this, as well.Both Wonderking and Maplestory give the player the option to add positive or negative points to a person. The skill trees also look very similar. Unlike in MS though, WK has skill combos, which you can use to rack up more damage through using skills together. MS lets you use as many skills as you want on whatever hotkeys you decide. WK only allows 3 at a time to be bound to hotkeys (as far as I can tell.. I could be wrong on this note).
Wonderking and Maplestory share a similar style and gameplay, but there are some differences as well. My personal concern is how similar the graphics, skill effects, environments, and overall the visual aspects of these games are.
Having said that, Wonderking should not be dismissed, especially considering that it is still in closed beta. There is still time for changes and improvements. Maybe it will even win over some of the Maplestory fans.

I've been playing wonderking in beta and it is a fun game. I always seem to get burnt out on maplestory, but i've yet to get bored with wonderking

i tried maple.....sucked crazy monkey ballz. it fugded up my comp turning it sideways first then freezing up a gizillion times after that. WK is THE BEST 2D i've ever played, not that ive played a lot of them, if u think about it also the graphics for WK are better the maple. MS's graphics look more pixled then MK.

Your screen turned sideways cuz you pressed Ctrl+Alt+sideways arrow, so it wasnt maple, also the reason it froze was you either have a slow computer, computer with little space in the memory left, too many people were on maplestory (they have like 1mil on Saturday noon), or some windows dell dont do good with maple.
So stop saying it sucks, i think these two games are pretty much 50-50 and i kinda rotate between the two...
Anyway just notice you did the screen turn and you probably have a bad computer or maplestory is filled up.

Very nice comparison. It's nice to see how little bias is shown. IMO, Although the graphics are very similar, the games are very different. I personally couldn't bear to play maplestory past level 10, but wonderking has yet to lose my interest.

Wonderking is defiantly for younger kids and you haev to kinda reach to touch the set keys they have (if your little) and maple you can fill you keyboard with all skills and wonder has set keys for skills (a,s,d,z,x, and c (maybe more i cant remember))

Similar.. Yes. Wonderking is a game ive played for about.. 20 min now? It has already won my vote by far over maplestory (Which I have played for like 3 weeks.) Maplestory with its impossible to level, same crapy monster bullshit. It got old for me really fast. Wonder king has my vote. It could use some more patchs and stuff but not as much as the total childish and lack of seriousness game.. Maplestory. It makes me feel like im 13 again. I dont like it -_-.

i layed maplestory and it took me about 2hours to get to level 10 then 2 more weeks just to get to lvl 25 and all the cool stuff is in the cash shop if u ask me i got bored with it once i hit lvl 15 cuz it has the same monsters and lags like cow balls
it only took me 30 min to get to lvl 10 on wk and the skills are amazing if u ask me wk is way better

Wonderking Is In Everyway Better Than Maple And I Played Both Maple It Repetive And Boring With 1 Skill Honestly How Fun Is A Game Of Holding Down The Shift Button Until The Monster Dies Thousands Of Times Until U Lv Just To Do It Again Wonderking Is Fun And Keeps You In To The Game

second there are WAYYY more than 1 skill
third wonderking starts with 1 skill maple starts for first 25(ish) minutes with 3, then you get at least 4-6 skills MORE

Although WK has better graphics and somewhat better skills, Maplestory is still the most original.Now don't get me wrong, I like WK,too, but the fact that Maplestory has so many more players and lots of more things in the game makes it better. I don't play a game simply just to level, get skills, and surpass other. I play to have fun, not have to worry about graphics and having to meet new people. Also, a good storyline is nice, which they both have.

I actually like Wonderking better. The PQ's in maplestory are the same old thing over and over again, while in Wonderking there are like thousands of instance dungeons. In Wonderking you can dash and double jump, and wonderking also has better more details graphics then maplestory.
The game just FINISHED closed beta so not many people are playing, but the community is definitely growing. So WATCH OUT MAPLE.
I played both. I took 1 month to get to level 17 in MS and it took me 3 days to get to level 29 in WK. Wk is also better b/c it has more quest and the monsters ACTUALLY attack u. MS is so gay cuz all the monster walz into like old people sleep walking.
I was always a huge fan of Maplestory but seeing the OverWhelming amount of people saying wonderking is better, i'll give it a shot.
Hmm... I just saw that WK came out. Ive played MS for 3 years. I got the patience to a point...I got a lv 126 bucc and 120 drk...but it suuux to lv at that point. So ill see how this WK is. Hopefully it will be more relaxing. I love to do the massive damage so we will see if WK keeps me happy in that reguard. However, I hope that WK solves the biggest flaw... the dependability on pots is rediculous in MS. I mean really.....20mil to lv?! WHAT is that... you should be saving money for equips and other aspects of the game...not just tolv. I cant wait to find out. Ill let you guys know what i think
