Mythic Entertainment studio head, Mark Jacobs, has left the building.
The lead designer of Warhammer Online and EA have mutually agreed to separate.
The official website will have an announcement soon, and I will update this post accordingly.
I unfortunately am unable to give my usual color commentary, because at Mark's request, Mythic and I mutually agreed to separate several years ago.
Edit to add the official announcement.

Nothing but : BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !

"I unfortunately am unable to give my usual color commentary, because at Mark's request, Mythic and I mutually agreed to separate several years ago."
Ah ha My suspicions confirmed :P
Not surprised tho by this happening--but the cynic I am wonders if it will really make a difference
Ouchies! Well, he DID know what he exposed himself and his employees to when he sold Mythic to EA, didn't he?
And, of Course: ROFLOL !
For the record : Benoît - Kalys & Julien - Aias : former GOA GMs & CMs :)
Hi Benoit! I am unable to confirm rumours that I have had a *fantastic* afternoon and that my MSN has been buzzing like crazy all day.
I feel now is an appropriate time to nuke bridges. ;)
I am happy. Bye Bye Mark, your condescending attitude on the forums, your inability to see what is really wrong with your games, and the fact you refuse to actually fix what needs to be fix and instead try to put in fluff says "bwhahahahahaha" to you getting "let go".
Sanya, can you just leave a smiley if you are at least a little bit giddy on the inside? =P
Next up Paul Barnett! (please?)
Was fun while it lasted... now bring back the creative team!
Darn! I was curious what your thoughts were.
Well, what about your thoughts on the BioWare/Mythic merger?
Personally I jumped for joy at this news, he seemed to me to be a cause of most of the issues with WAR. It might have been his arrogant, condescending, I know it all attitude that came across on the community forums which caused me to form this opinion of him.
I'd love to know what you think of the merger Sanya, any hopes that it will improve WAR?
Well I can't say that we didn't give Mark a heads up when he announced the merger to the public (even though it was after the fact). He should have known what was going to happen by EA's pure past MMO track record.
I vastly recall something similar happening with another famous developer and a ONCE great MMO company named Origins. Sad to see these things happen but the corp cogwheel is just that. Its out to make money and it really doesn't care how it does it come the end of the day. Do I blame Mark for leaving? No not at all. I am sure the new arrangement would have put him in a position that he did not want to be in.
Darn Sanya, I wanted to see what your comments would be. Never was sure if you left "voluntarily" or were asked by the powers that were. I hope that Bioware gives WAR the attention it needs to pull it out of the slump it is in. Last patch ended up breaking more things than it brought to the table. Maybe they will acutally gain a QA/ testing team.
You leaving Mythic was at his request? Kind of stupid on his part then.
This news of course has nothing to do with EA having lost 1 Billion dollars the past year, I am sure. Oh well. I have a feeling that Marc will simply start up another studio and release some product with the name Darkness Rising attached again.
Bored Hammer makes DAOC look appealing again, as I enter my 8th yr playing.
Well this was sort of predictable - EA would eventually swallow Mythic whole and spit out all the decent bits that made Mythic what it was.
Loosing you, Sanya, was one of their biggest mistakes - it was always fun talking to you, oh and Yes, Kallisti is a guy :)
Well, he got what he deserved. He couldn't have been more arrogant and condescending before launch. He didn't deliver, not even close, so chalk up another failure to his resume.
Now, please Paul Barnett next. Get rid of that whole crew of arrogant jerks and perhaps the game might have a chance to survive. Given we're talking EA, probably not, but one can hope.
Greetings to Sanya and everyone.
I, like many others here, would wish Sanya would comment - but Kudos for this lady's professionalism. Still, one can only wonder what is swirling inside Sanya's head these days. :)
I also see the new guy taking over Warhammer, Rob Denton is one of the original co-founders of DAOC. Would you care to comment on his appointment Sanya? Did he leave DAOC, and is now returning?
One other comment I would add, is that I was hoping "the new game" you are involved in was STO (Startrek Online). But, alas, this is not to be.
Keep up the good writing Sanya. I find your views always refreshing.
Omfg Blake! You sound like an ex Mythic employee! :D :D

Mythic had been on a downward spiral since TOA. (a staggering 56 one star reviews out of 89 for TOA on Amazon.com !) and to top it off, they managed to produce a $100 million dollar game (WAR) that might just have out AOC'ed Age of Conan for sheer floppyiness.
MJ deserved the kick in the ass for the downward spiral since TOA for Mythic, but the blame doesn't completely rest on his shoulders.
Got something to say?
