Acclaim
Acclaim has confirmed what rumors based on a private e-mail revealed earlier this week has suggested: The Chronicles of Spellborn is shutting down this month.
The news came through an official forum post on TCOS's board, which stated simply that service would be shutting down on August 25th, and that players should spend their Acclaim points by that time or request a refund via e-mail.
The post also suggested players try "other Playdom games" or test Kogamu. Oddly enough, Acclaim did not suggest trying other MMORPGs under its banner like 9Dragons or 2Moons.
In June, TCOS was shut down in Asia by its publisher, indicating that its developer - which had been working on a revised free-to-play model after TCOS's launch for some time based on player feedback - was no longer interested in continuing development on the title.
