Nikola Tesla to inspire Clockwork Symphony
Yesterday saw the arrivial of the website for the upcoming steampunk MMORPG Clockwork Symphony. Still in early development, it sounds like Clockwork Symphony will be grounded in more of a "real world" setting than NeoSteam, another steampunk-flavored MMORPG which was recently released in the United States.
Players will be able to have radically different experiences on each play through the game, thanks to three unique "paths" in the works. Gaslight Romance will take you to the streets of San Francisco for some gritty realism. Weird West will allow you to deal with train robberies and have gunfights with bandits. And Pulp will bring alive the best of old-school adventurism.
The developers are boasting that they'll have "the most expansive character generation system possible," which is a tall order compared to games like City of Heroes and Champions Online, but if they can follow through it will be nice to see.
Clockwork Symphony's character classes have names like Engineer, Dreadnought, and Sharpshooter. Details on these and other classes can be found on the site's official forums.
Steampunk is a genre virtually untapped in the MMORPG world, and it's always nice to see something other than fantasy-based games in the market. Clockwork Symphony's real-world setting is bound to set it apart from the other player in this arena.
