City of Heroes rewards loyalty with Going Rogue closed beta access, more

City of Heroes offers perks for its most loyal players

Paragon Studios announced today a new loyalty program for its City of Heroes/Villains game.  Anyone who keeps their account active between August 15, 2009 and November 15, 2009 will be rewarded with closed beta access to the upcoming City of Heroes: Going Rogue expansion and special badges.

From the official site:

"Going Rogue Closed Beta Access will be granted using a three-tier system:

    • Tier One: City of Heroes Veterans with 60+ months of paid time.
    • Tier Two: Loyalty Program players
    • Tier Three: Players who Pre-Order Going Rogue (Preorder details to be announced at a later date)"

Two badges will also be rewarded for keeping your account active through this period:  "Vigilant" for heroes and "Determined" for villains.

Additionally, Paragon Studios is reactivating an offer from last year's holiday period.  If you pay for a 6-month subscription to City of Heroes, you get one month free. Pay for a 12-month subscription and get two additional months for free.

It's no coincidence that these special offers coincide with the open beta and launch of Champions Online, the first real entry into the superhero MMORPG market besides City of Heroes (in fact, as if on cue, Champions Online today announced an offer of their own that rewards loyalty).  Still, these are really nice perks for being a loyal player, and they're not really asking for that much in return.
