POWER MMA amateur fighters Magali Niel, Eddie Gonzales, and Brian Perry the Platypus (the other two do not currently have nick-names) will fight at Harrah's Casino in downtown New Orleans tomorrow night on the Renaissance MMA card. The show will starts at 8PM and gates open at 7PM.
Warren Donley, the matchmaker for the show has place Magali Neil against Michelle Lara, of Golden Dragon in Slidell and Eddie Gonzales who is 1-1 against experienced amateur local fighter Brent Bourgeois. Niel, who is the fiancé of POWER MMA coach, MMA referee, and MMA product inventor Myron Gaudet; is looking forward to her first fight and said today that, she, "was feeling really good and really confident."
Perry, who has been getting used to his new nickname, which was given to him by POWER MMA co-owner Carlos Mena who watches the children's show Phinneas and Ferb with his children (where Perry the Platypus is an indestructible star), has learned that a platypus is actually a dangerous and venomous creature.
All three fighters are trained by head coach Brett Hughes and by kickboxing, MMA, strength and conditioning and jiu jitsu coaches Myron Gaudet, Marco Macera, William Knorr, Adam Peeples, and Danny Evans.
Tickets for the event are $30 and up on-line in advance.
