Though it's not the fight that many MMA fans were originally excited to hear about, it will probably do just fine. An ankle injury has forced UFC light heavyweight Antonio Rogerio Nogueria out of his UFC 109 bout with Brandon Vera. Instead, Jon "Bones" Jones will step up and take his place.
Both fighters come off bitterly disappointing losses. Jones was dominating Matt Hamill at the TUF 10 finale before being disqualified due to illegal elbow strikes.
Vera lost a highly-controversial decision to Randy Couture at UFC 105 where many fans believed that Vera earned the decision victory.
This news comes quickly on the heels of a big welterweight announcement and the news of a title fight in the works for this March.
