Police search for possible racially motivated serial killer in Michigan

Police are searching for a man who is being called a serial killer after he has attacked and killed five men and wounded 8 in the Flint, Michigan area since May.

Flint, Michigan is the birthplace of General Motors.  Since the plants closure in the mid 70's, the city has struggled with unemployment and a declining population that has lead to city cuts.

Survivors of the stabbings say that the man will ask for directions and then pulls a knife and attacks.

The police were not sure in the beginning if the attacks were racially motivated as Flint is a predominantly black city, but since the latest attack of Arnold Minor, 49, who was found dead in Flint's south side, the police feel they have discovered a pattern.  All of the victims since May have been black except for one.

The man is described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, between 5' 11" and 6' 2" and weighs 180 to 210 pounds. He may have light-colored hair and usually wears a baseball cap during the attacks, according to a police press release.

"He's honing his craft," former FBI agent Harold Copus told AOL News. "Soon, he'll take it another level and you'll see more violence."

Police are asking residents to not be outside alone and to travel in pairs and if you have any information to contact the Flint post at 810-732-1111.

"We are trying to be responsive to the community and warn the community while we are still gathering that information and putting it together," Flint Police Chief Alvern Lock told AOL News.
