Wild go back to school again, sign CC's Prosser

Another highly sought college free agent is headed to St. Paul as the Wild announced on Thursday that they have signed defenseman Nate Prosser out of WCHA power Colorado College.

Prosser just completed his senior season with the Tigers, notching 4 goals and 24 assists, making him the WCHA’s second highest scoring defenseman. The 6’2” 210 pounder had 12 goals and 52 assists in 137 career games.

Just like Casey Wellman before him, Prosser was highly sought after since his Tigers were eliminated from NCAA contention on Sunday. His decision to sign with the Wild, whom he called his “clear cut number one choice” was aided by the fact that he grew up in nearby Elk River, and played in two state tournaments as a high school player.

Prosser will not play in tonight’s game in Nashville, but is expected to join the team in Tennessee and travel to Columbus for the morning skate on Friday. He will remain with the team for the remainder of the regular season, and when he does make his debut he will be the first native Minnesotan to play for the Wild since Mark Parrish and Sean Hill in 2008.
