Captain Nolan Yonkman and rookie Colin Wilson recalled by Nashville

In response to D Cody Franson's broken rib and the coming birth of D Dan and Mrs. Hamhuis' second child, the Nashville Predators announced this morning that they've recalled Admirals captain Nolan Yonkman. This is the first time Yonkman has been recalled by the Predators; he hasn't seen NHL action since the 2005-2006 season when he suited up for 38 games with the Washington Capitals. In total, Yonkman has played 50 NHL games in his career (all with Washington), scoring one goal and 7 assists, and racking up 90 penalty minutes.

According to Dirk Hoag of the Predators "On the Forecheck" blog, "Yonkman's recall is not related to a roster emergency, so if he plays 10 games or stays on the roster for 30 days, he would have to pass through waivers if sent back down to Milwaukee."

Also recalled from Milwaukee Tuesday was rookie forward Colin Wilson. Wilson had been on a serious hot streak as of late, and was riding a six-game points streak before getting the call from Nashville.

OTHER AHL NEWS... It was announced today that the AHL has approved the relocation of the Edmonton Oilers AHL franchise to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The team, who has yet to be named, will begin play fall of 2010 and play at the "newly rennovated" Cox Convention Center (which holds 13,399 for hockey games). Right now, the Springfield Falcons are the AHL affiliate to the Oilers, but it was announced today that the Falcons and Oilers were ending their affiliation. Fret not, Falcon fans, GM Bruce Landon told masslive.com that AHL hockey will be played in Springfield at least through the 2010-2011 season.
