Sesame Street goes after Fox News

Some things just shouldn't be political.  (AP)

Is nothing sacred anymore?

I used to love watching Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, the Cookie Monster and the whole gang.  But apparently the producers of the show just couldn't resist leaking in some of their politics.  (video below)

In the episode, Oscar the Grouch is told by a viewer that she's switching from his own Grouch News Network (GNN) -- get it?  -- to Pox News. "Now there's a trashy news show," he's told.

The PBS ombudsman issued a statement after hundreds of complaints.

I don't know what was in the head of the producers, but my guess is that this was one of those parodies that was too good to resist. But it should have been resisted. Broadcasters can tell parents whatever they think of Fox or any other network, but you shouldn't do it through the kids.

What does "PBS" stand for again?  Get it together people.

Oh wah wah, get your panties out of a bunch... if a six-year-old has developed political leanings and gets offended by a Sesame Street skit, I fear we have larger issues to deal with at this juncture.

I'm glad that PBS has a sense of humor!

I don't think a six-year old will get offended, and of course there are larger issues...but it's public broadcasting and government subidized. It shouldn't be making political points. And obviously the higher ups agreed.

Meanwhile, Fox News stomps CNN and MSNBC into the ground with respect to ratings. Now that's funny

It's not about offending children saidahb and jarrett. It's about INDOCTRINATING them.

I quit letting the kid's watch it when the Cookie Monster was no longer allowed to crave cookies.

Could just as easily have been aimed at CNN, Cable News Network. Oh good grief. Pox News Network continues catering to the whiny.

Interesting. Would almost make sense...except more Democrats watch Fox than any other station.

My comment was in response to Ken's post: "Pox News Network continues catering to the whiny."

But you didn't pick up on it. What was it you were saying about 'idiots'?

I didn't let my kids watch sesame street 20 years ago. Seems they are going the way of the original cartoons, meant for adults not for children. Now of course they are trying to indoctrinate the kids that watch. Parents wake up!

Your exception would make sense, but D's are just as whiny as R's. The differences are they whine about different things and at different times.
