Catholic nurse forced to perform abortion

According to a lawsuit filed by the Alliance Defense Fund, a legal alliance of Christian attorneys, a New York woman named Catherina DeCarlo was forced to perform a late-term abortion against her will.

The lawsuit alleges that the hospital knew of the woman's religious objections but forced her to participate in the procedure or face losing her job and possibly her nursing license.

The nurse, Catherina Cenzon DeCarlo, 35, said in a statement provided by her attorney: "After I was forced to assist this abortion against my religious objection, I felt violated and betrayed, like I had been raped. I couldn't believe that this could happen in the United States, where freedom is held sacred."

Jeanne Bernard of Mount Sinai Hospital said, "Mount Sinai cannot comment on pending litigation."

According to DeCarlo, who has worked at the hospital since 2004, she has told officials verbally and in writing that she will not help with abortions.  When the case came up, she was told she would charged with insubordination and patient abandonment.  This is against the law in New York.

If this is found to be true, I hope the officials are prosecuted.  This case also bring up some interesting things to consider for the future.  I wonder how this would be treated if the U.S. was to pass Obama's health care plan.  Currently the Hyde Amendment prohibits federal money going towards abortions, but that could change very quickly (many countries have abortions provided by government money).  If abortion is seen as a constitutional right, how can government money be denied towards it?

Exactly, can you imagine if a soldier in the Nazi death camps suddenly had a change of heart, when ordered to kill jews? This woman should be hung or shot before a firing squad for disobeying her superiors. Im glad we see eye to eye KMcK. I know that at least you can be counted upon to kill human beings and do your job, HEIL KMCK!

If you have no value for human life, why don't you end yours. The nurse made it clear and a pre hire condition she was not to perform abortions. KMcK, Maybe you should have been aborted.
