Michelle Obama announced today the launch of United We Serve: Feed a Neighbor initiative in coordination with the Corporation for National and Community Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to combat hunger this winter.
48 million people including 17 million children are at risk of going hungry in the United States as we approach Holidays. This program allows citizens to get involved in their community to help fight hunger.
Programs range from helping start a local school's breakfast program, serving fresh fruit and vegetables to children(FFVP), Educate families about healthy, low-cost meals with Share Our Strength's Operation Frontline, or Create a School Health Council to assess and improve your school district's Wellness Policy.

You can find local volunteer opportunities like delivering meals to homebound seniors, offering your professional skills at a food pantry, or planting a community garden and sharing produce with your neighbors. You can also create your own volunteer opportunity using our anti-hunger toolkit.
