Michelle Obama's Martha's Vineyard family vacation may spark Immigration debate (SLIDESHOW)

Mrtha's Vineyard Bucolic Blue Heron Farm

Martha's Vineyard , a summer retreat  for the rich and powerful uses more then 4,000 Brazilians to make sure things run smoothly , some of them may help out around the Obama families Martha's Vineyard bucolic Blue Heron farm  whose rental is likely to be in the range of $35,000 to $50,000 per week.. The Obama family enjoyed a working vacation at the Grand Canyon last week . It is estimated that nearly 75% of the Brazilians are illegal . They are used to keep the gardens looking nice , scrub floors , and build houses . Michelle Obama probably will not hear much about the immigration issues while on her trip . Some islanders began to gripe that there were too many immigrants; that they were using the hospital without insurance; that they were dipping into a local charity fund while buying homes fit for kings back in Brazil; and that they were getting into trouble, as evidenced by the monthly so-called Brazilian day at the courts, when a Portuguese translator was on call. By the time the credit crisis hit – affecting even this playground of the rich – the grumbling had grown to a steady rumble. This is indicative of many places in America that have been hit hard by the troubled economy and loss of jobs . Daniela Gerson at Financial Times sums it up here .

In a few days, Barack Obama is scheduled for a holiday on the Vineyard. Like most visitors to the island, he’ll probably spend his time riding waves and eating lobster rolls without noticing the mostly unseen workers who make the island function. It is almost impossible to spend time here and not benefit in some way from illegal immigration, whether in the form of restaurant dishwashers or garbage-men collecting kerbside rubbish. When the summer’s over, the president will return to Washington and face a busy agenda – which will not include a promised overhaul of the US immigration system, now postponed until 2010 at least.

Michelle Obama and family will bring the POTUS own personal stimulus package to the "Rock" this week by just his very presence . Stores , bars , gift shops are all getting prepared to make money when President Obama and family comes to town .

Even though the Obama' will not be staying in Oak Bluff that for Black islanders, the party circuit is as much a part of summer vacation as the island's rich history. From May until September, they host a nonstop smorgasbord of lunches, brunches, cocktail sips and clambakes on the beach. They will visit I'm sure , the bucolic Blue Heron farm is located in Chilmark  . Michelle Obama will have no problem from media wearing shorts on this vacation .

This is the idea to have people living in this country illegally as slave, that's one in many reasons why they do not want to do a immigration reform; so that they can always have people to work for basically nothing, so it is not a bad idea to have people with power to abuse poor undocumented groups .

Nice pic but it isn't Blue Heron Farm... it's Middle Road in Chilmark.

I will laugh my tail of if a Hurricane named "Bill" forces BHO to retreat from the island and leave everyone else stranded. Mayor Nagin would be proud.

Rich people can afford to pay their help decently and that help should be American citizens, not eager illegal alien wage slaves and social service thieves.

I stayed in Oak Bluffs during the late 1990s and the Brazillian population was exploding then. I think the Brazillian people need to become legal and therefore contribute to the economy that they continuously sponge from. Martha's Vineyard (MV) though picturesque needs to enforce illegal labor laws that the Most Wealthy MVers have been ignoring for years.

The obama's should spend less time vacationing and more time working. Date night in NY, sightseeing at the Grand Canyon, Martha's Vinyard next week - its like they're socialites and all at a time when many of us cant even afford to live.

It's not 4000 it's between 25,000 to 40,000 Brazilians here on the island. Most are good people & hard workers.. The problem is they send money they make back to Brazil which takes away from the local economy here. Each post office now has at least 1 Portuguese speaking employee to deal w/ the many Brazilians who don't care to learn English (a sore point here on the island). Another large problem is they take up housing making it more difficult for islanders, college kids & other summer workers to stay here. Bottom line is that the Brazilian population dramatically increased 7-8 years ago because of greedy employers here on the island & word-of-mouth in Brazil. There is a massive imbalance here rt now but things will correct themselves naturally.. Brazil's economy is booming & more workers will return home. In the past, the work force was primarily islander based & college kids along w/ a healthy balance of foreign workers from all over the world. The island will be balanced again.
