Glenn Beck with fox news is feeling the heat of the black blogger community that teamed up to send over 100,000 complaints to his bosses about his out of control highly polarizing language recently.
During an August 4 appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Beck called President Barack Obama a “racist” with “a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture.”
This all happened the week of Harvard Professor Henry Gates being arrested. and birthers claiming existence of Obama Kenyan birth certificate. Is this an attack on free speech , well not really because he can still say what he wants but his bosses at Fox may have a talk with him to tone it down next time he wants to speak in racial terms about President Barack Obama. I myself plan to distance myself from Beck because he has turned into more of an entertainer out to stoke the fires of racism and hatred which is not hard to do during these tough economic times , inciting poorly educated whites to riot, Is Rush Limbaugh and Lou Dobbs next? Well my guess is the Afro sphere will be following them closely for the next couple of months . This week Obama joker posters went viral . All of this going on while town hall protestors against health care reform became violent.
Others are hopeful that the sponsor pullout from the Beck show will make a positive difference in countering hate language, slanders, smears, and outrageous comments by figures on television and radio including Rush Limbaugh and Lou Dobbs. Limbaugh has likened President Obama to Nazis causing the White House to declare he was on "thin ice." Dobbs is actively promoting the idea the president was not born in the U.S. All of this happening and we have not even started on gun control law debate which should be a hot topic if the NRA has anything to say about it ,I'm sure they do with the amount of lobbying they did for gun permit advocates .
The group that led the coalition against Beck is Color of Change who said that
the dangers of these tactics are real. We saw the same dynamic during the presidential race: by the end, the McCain/Palin campaign was unable to control the violent energy whipped up by their race-baiting. The result was an unprecedented number of threats on Obama's life, a rise in the number of hate groups, and an increase in the number of threats and crimes against immigrants and Black people. The conservative right wing even took aim at Obama's daughter Malia Obama which is about as far across the line as you can go and unprecedented. Who can forget Virginia politician Catherine Crabill calling fo Republicans to bear arms.
In other news the White House launched the reality check health care reform website to debunk myths that conservatives like Palin and Limbaugh are conveying to the media.
Update: The number of advertisers who have dropped Beck has grown to 10 and there are huge companies on this list . Color of Change may smell blood.
In the past two weeks, the group, led by James Rucker, has managed to get ten advertisers to pull their ads from Glenn Beck's program after his comments attacking President Obama as a "racist". Thus far, ConAgra, Roche, Sanofi-Aventis, RadioShack, Men’s Wearhouse, State Farm, Sargent, LexisNexis-owned Lawyers.com, Procter & Gamble, Progressive Insurance, SC Johnson and GEICO have all pulled their ads from Beck's show, in response to advocacy from CoC and its members. At Jack and Jill Politics, Rucker writes that their online petition has garnered over 125,000 signatures.

Becks comments about the Harvard case were not racist. Obama seemed to jump to a racist conclusion. Beck was commenting on it. The hypersensitivity on race is really sickening to most of us who see outrage only when it can be directed towards a conservative or republican. None of the usual race vultures seem to be concerned about the conservative black man beaten by SEIU thugs. And that is what makes your outrage lose its power with most thinking Americans.
So the Black community goes after Beck not the SEIU thugs who beat a black man. Smart. If the black man was beat by a right wing group it'd be all over the news. Obama is a racist, he attended a racist church for over 20 years, he appoints a racist judge to the bench, he sides with a black man who has a chip on his shoulder and slams a white cop who did the right thing. He's a racist. What Beck said was the truth. Truth hurts get over it.

I read about Glenn Beck's comments and could not help thinking that they bore the "flavour" of Fox. Their reporting always seems to be so aggressive and confrontational and the opposite of the very professional tone of CNN's reporting. I have stopped watching Fox in favour of CNN and all the people I speak to here in England feel the same way. By the way, you Americans seem so race conscious to us Brits. Crikey, I shudder when I think most of you will claim to be Christian and church goers.
When does accusing someone of racism make the accuser a racist?
If you watched Beck's show the day prior to his Fox and Friends appearence he was going through the rolodex of people in Barack's circle of friends who spew hatred for white America and the perceived white establishment. This INCLUDES Professor Gates.
I really have to shake my head at those who claim that "guilt by association" is not a valid charge.
Glenn Beck is not a racist. He is not a Republican, either. Surprise, surprise. I know to those who do not watch him, or only know of him through carefully edited YouTube clips by liberal propagandists, he can come off a little rough. But, the beauty of CONTEXT might help you understand things a little bit better.
He cares about Libertarian principles and the Constitution. He is no genius; he himself will tell you that. But, he IS an honest man figuring things out as he goes and then passing that info along to those who choose to view his program.

If you're asking why didn't anyone protest Bush over his economic policies, I would claim ignorance for many people on that issue. The Dow was artificially high, the interest rates were low. People were deceived into thinking that the economy was strong. People except Ron Paul and Peter Schiff.
One thing that Glenn preaches is that the donkey and the elephant are both to blame here. As well as the uninformed.
You have to understand that what caused this crisis was giving mortgages to people who were not qualified to have them or able to pay them. Mortgages get packaged together and sold as commodites under the flawed economic logic that other people's debt is an asset.
The Federal Reserve, Congress, Bush, ACORN, and many others all contributed to this mess.
Obama, Congress and The Fed are "fixing" the problem by repeating the same process that caused the problem to begin with.

Glenn Beck has the most honest take on events of anybody in the TV media. People should TIVO him and watch him every day.
I've been paying for slavery now for over 30 years in the form of welfare, affirmitive action, etc., so sit down. What gets me is some 20-40 year old blacks complaining about slavery, while they have been given advantage after advantage and still can't compete.
Right on Clifford, The power of unity is very strong, we need to stop the bleeding of bigotry with Fox and Beck to name a few. As you can see many whites are really coming out with their blatant discrimination and I suspect they are really feeling scared about the changes in the world. What they do not realize is that yeah, we have made progress, and yes at the same time there is still a lot of discrimination going on. I have to agree with some of these racists here making such statements about our progress; what they do not want to admit is that they see our progress as a threat to their way of life. They are digging up the Rev Wright issue and anything else they can find to try to put a jacket on Obama that will not fit; really the black man with a white mother who is so racist?? The inability to process basic information and display some average intelligence certainly shows why and how people like Beck, Hannity, and Limbaugh have been able to get as far as they have!
