Terrorist watchlist nomination practices are going to be evaluated soon by the government. Since Nigerian terrorist Abdulmutallab tried to ignite an incendiary device on flight 253 many questions have been left unanswered. The father of the terrorist claims he told authorities months ago that he feared his son could be considered dangerous. Barack Obama has called for an investigation into the nomination practices.
Janet Napolitano, who was chosen by Obama in the beginning of 2009 to be Secretary of Homeland Security did an interview on CNN yesterday. She said the Nigerian was nominated based on his father contacting U.S. authorities but it did not go any further because he did not meet the criteria to be placed on a suspected terrorist list. Napolitano is correct in her evaluation of the circumstances based on the current practices.
The good thing about all of this is that much of Napolitano's work has already been done for her. It appears the nomination practices were found to be inadequate toward the end of the Bush administration. Whether Napolitano was aware of the Bush era report is unknown.
The U.S. Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General Audit Division under the Bush administration turned in a report they did called THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION’S TERRORIST WATCHLIST NOMINATION PRACTICES back in May of 2008. They found numerous occurrences of the F.B.I. using sloppy and inadequate terrorist watchlist nomination practices.
They also found that the FBI failed to nominate many subjects in the terrorism investigations that they sampled, did not nominate many others in a timely fashion, and did not update or remove watchlist records as required.
On the other side of the argument is the A.C.L.U. , they have complained that the list is too broad.
The audit found that because the consolidated terrorist watchlist is used by government frontline screening personnel(TSA) to determine how to respond when a known or suspected terrorist requests entry into the United States, the failure to place appropriate individuals on the watchlist, or the failure to place them on the watchlist in a timely manner, increases the risk that these individuals are able to enter and move freely about the country.
So it appears the known inadequacies pointed out by the Bush administration in the terrorist nomination process have been the victims of bureaucratic red tape . Hopefully Congress will take a hint from this. They should stop slowing up legislation in Congress so the Obama administration can catch up on important issues like this . Speeding up the processing of information by the F.B.I. should be the focus of any evaluation. The audit points out numerous factors for why the current practices are inefficient.
One statistic sticks out on page 5 of the audit, in 67 percent of the cases they reviewed in which a watchlist record modification was necessary, they determined that the FBI case agent primarily assigned to the case failed to modify the watchlist record when new identifying information was obtained during the course of the investigation, as required by FBI policy.

A terrorist Muslim does not always have to be on the watch list.
So the best precaution is either do not give the American visa to any Muslim to travel to or enter U.S.A, or any Muslim who already had the visa must be very well screened before entering the Plane.
A Muslim person can be identified by a few signs such as his name, his Nationality, his Country of Origin, or his Religion, but by the Muslim names can be more easily to identify because the Muslim names are generally from Arabic names even if his Nationality is other than Arabic, and this can be achieved by the assistance from Arabic speaking persons of the Middle East.
Farouk Abdul Mutallab is Nigerian but his name is Arabic Muslim name.
Obama and his wife spent 20 years in Rev Wrights church. Wright baptized their 2 children. Wright was Obama's "spiritual adviser".
What then after 11 months in DC have they not found a church?
Why did they NOT ATTEND Christmas mass?
It would seem to be a member of a church for 20 years would mean you were a religious family right?
Or is this proof that he LIED for 20 years and only attended to maintain support of the community? Was it a farce? Was it a ruse? Was it a 20 year LIE?
