What is the # 1 thing that most people do when deciding to take a vacation? They Google their destination. Thinking about traveling to the Greek Islands? Google Greek Islands. Perhaps, it is the West Indies island of St. Lucia? Google St. Lucia. Or an Asian adventure you secretly desire in Thailand. Type in the word Thailand.
What happens? Usually, when you type in the name of a destination, you see in front of you, displayed on the screen something like… Results 1 - 10 of about 60,300,000 matches found on Google. OK 60,300,000 matches found; Wow, the internet has a plethora of information at our fingertips. Astonishing, quite frankly a bit overwhelming.
So, what do you do next? Well, I know what I do; I look at the first few websites listed that resemble a one stop place, a chamber of commerce of sorts or a city website. A website where I can look at all types of lodging available so I have choices. In case I desire to stay in a hut on the beach or compare the hut to a 5 star hotel, I want it all in one place so I can do a good comparison for my upcoming trip.
Usually, everyone is searching for one website to get the most information about a place in one stop. In this busy world most people do not have the numerous hours it takes to research every website out there. They are hoping for a melting pot site that will link to all others available.
So, if you are a "googler" of destinations, try this one out PuertoPenascoNow.com.
What will you find?
You will find what you are looking for. One site that links to all other websites in Puerto Penasco, Sonora Mexico or dearly referred to as Rocky Point by most Gringo’s.
Puerto Penasco Now is a brand new window into the heart of Puerto Penasco. Created to become the premier site for visitors all over the world and help travelers discover where to stay, where to eat, what to do, where to shop, where to live and links to every website in the city. The creation of Puerto Penasco Now will assist Puerto Penasco in to becoming a portal for the world to find lodging, business’s, restaurants, charities, facts, travel information and up to date content to plan trips from whatever destination. It will help travelers know how to get there and where to stay. It will assist retirees on where to move when they retire and young adventures escaping from Corporate America how to move there.
Puerto Penasco Now was created by a family that works together and who fell in love with Puerto Penasco. Bracken Cherry and his life partner Nina Joy and their three children Now, Star and Iam are giving back to the community by creating a centralized window for Rocky Point/Puerto Penasco.
Oct 1, 2007 the Cherry family started creating 15 websites, 136 videos and started Puerto Penasco TV on the internet. The business used the talents and knowledge of computers the entire family possessed. At the age of 3, the 3 daughters, all had computers. The family also lives in one of the most unusual monolithic dome houses in the world and has been featured on the travel channel and seen by over 30 million viewers on 5 major television shows (that is another interesting story for another time ) but for more details go to www.now.net. Working together interviewing, editing and building the infrastructure the family broadcasted on the internet, new businesses, special events, art/cultural activities and things to do in Rocky Point. The creation of Puerto Penasco TV / Rocky Point TV showed videos in popular condo/hotels in Puerto Penasco. Sonoran Sea, Sonoran Spa, Puerta Privada, and Las Palomas all ran the videos on a TV channel in the hotel/condo. It was a first for Puerto Penacso.
What happened next is the same thing that happened to everyone: economic slowdown. Things slowed down in Puerto Penasco, travel was down and the financial crisis affected all business.
The Cherry’s did not let this slow them down, Bracken Cherry remarks, “It won’t stop us, and it will help us evolve in promotion.”
True to his word, the Cherry family continued to lay the infrastructure for the portal to Penasco. The website features a calendar of events in one place where every business is invited to post their happenings and advertise future activities. The portal will be available in both English and Spanish versions and available free to everyone.
“ We have evolved to becoming Puerto Penasco Now and it is the window to Puerto Penasco on the internet pointing to all the other tools we use; 15 video websites, web site development , DVD and video promotion for all business in Puerto Penasco”, states Bracken Cherry. Additionally, what Bracken discovered in creating this portal is the large number of Mexican national owned businesses that do not have websites. With this discovery, they are assisting with the Mexican national community to create websites so even the mom and pop taco shop down the street may have a website.
With the creation of all these tools and the building of the infrastructure, friends were invited from Bracken’s hometown Sedona, Arizona along with the President of the Sedona Chamber of Commerce, to visit Puerto Penasco.
Amazingly enough the folks from Sedona, Arizona (which boasts over 4 million visitors a year according to the Sedona Chamber of Commerce.com) had never been to Puerto Penasco. What happened? Well, as it happens to most of us who visit our beloved Puerto Penasco for the first time, we fall in love with the charming seaside Mexican village. The beautiful Sea of Cortez, the friendly people and the spectacular weather allure us and stays in our hearts and minds.
Sedona, Arizona rated one of the top ten tourist destination in the US according to Trip Advisor and the editors of USA Weekend magazine designated it in 2003 as “The most beautiful place in America”, receives over 4 million visitors a year and approximately 2 million of those that fly into Phoenix International Airport come from international countries. These are world travelers who have already crossed an international border, are obviously not concerned with traveling internationally, seeking adventure and new experiences. How do the 2 million global travelers get to Sedona? They get on a tour bus, take a charter and ride the bus over 2 hours to see Sedona. If they are going to the Grand Canyon, another 4 hours added to the 2 hour trip. No problem, they are travelers.
Puerto Penacso Now wants to infuse this same philosophy to bring global travelers to Puerto Penasco. The goal is to promote Puerto Penasco to the world, year round. One start in that direction is Puerto Penasco Now and co promotion.
Sedona Now has agreed to co promotion and form an alliance with Puerto Penasco Now and Puerto Penasco TV. Sedona Now promotes Sedona business, events, and things to do on Channel 18 in Sedona. Sedona, which receives millions of visitors a year, has a wonderful travel program which runs 24 hours on Channel 18 in 14,000 homes and 95% of all hotel rooms.
Starting in May on channel 18 in Sedona, Sedona Now has agreed to the co-promotion of Puerto Penasco. Amazingly, Puerto Penasco will be promoted to 4 million annual visitors in Sedona! And where will they go to get more information on visiting the charming seaside village?
