The Symbols on the High Priestess Card:
The High Priestess represents the Goddesses Persephone, Isis and Artemis. She is adorned in blue robes which represent knowledge. The cross on her chest is the balance of male and female energies. On her head sits the crown of Isis, a symbol of the Triple Goddess. It represents the three phases of the moon (waxing, full, waning) and the three phases of womanhood (maiden, mother, crone). On her lap rests the TORA, the book of law and knowledge.
The High Priestess is standing on the moon with her left foot. It represents her power over the moon, the ruler of dreams and intuition. She sits on a cube which means she has dominion over the Earth. Beside her are two pillars: Boaz and Jachim. They are the symbols for mercy and severity. Behind her hangs a tapestry, a barricade for those who are not initiated in the Esoteric. Only those in pursuit of higher knowledge will be able to venture behind the curtain to see wonders unknown. On the tapestry are pomegranates the symbol for Persephone which signifies the passage to other realms and the duty to return to the Earthly plane to apply it.
