There’s those songs that you hear the first time, and you realize its probably gonna be a major hit on the radio. That’s the impression I got when I recently heard the track “Dirty In Texas” by the southern rockers Anchored. Along with its video, which pays homage to the high school football craziness of Texas and a little home invasion action- you can tell that the song is destined for big things this summer on rock radio.
Lead by singer Brandan Narrell, Anchored’s music is a ode to the hard rock that bands like Saliva and others have paved a path over the past decade or so. Narrell almost had another job a bunch of years back, as legendary drummer Vinnie Paul recommended Narrell to take over the Drowning Pool signing vacancy, which eventually went to Ryan McCombs. That didn’t work out for Narrell, but this gave him to chance to form a band on his own. Anchored’s southern-fried hard rock is custom built for barbeques, partying and good times. Their debut album, “Listen To This” comes out later this spring.
Until the album comes out, the band is now out on tour with fellow the band I previous mentioned, Saliva, through mid-May. The tour hits Detroit as the band hits the always wild Harpo’s this Friday, April 23rd. Hopefully, the weather is nice because the band could be having a pre-show barbeque for some lucky fans at some of the shows.
So, definitely check out Anchored and see what you may be seeing a lot more of later this year as they open for Saliva.
Anchored opens for Saliva this Friday, April 23rd at Harpo’s. Tickets are $20 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com. Additional band info and dates are available at www.myspace.com/anchoredmusic.
