If you've been paying any attention at all, you know by now that I'm a fat guy who likes shoes, pocket knives and Dr. Bronner's soap. However, it does not stop there. I'm what you call multifaceted.
Starting today, in this column, you will see words about hats. You see, I'm a head-shaver, too. Big baldies like myself need to keep the dome covered. That's where hats come in.
Think for a moment about exactly how limited/limiting the components of the male wardrobe are. We have from the following to choose: shirts, pants, socks, undershirts, underpants, shoes, neck ties and hats. These items, at their very least, are utilitarian. At their very best, they could be considered interesting, maybe.
It is for these reasons why it's important to always be on the hunt for that certain something one can latch onto in the development and evolution of one's personal style. Baby Daddy did it and so can you.

Today we focus on the my favorite hat manufacturer and retailer in San Francisco, Goorin Bros. in North Beach. Established in 1895 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania by Cassel Goorin, the company was transplanted to San Francisco in 1949 by his two sons, the Goorin brothers. This company has been making hats for a very long time and it shows.
Now run by Cassel's great-grandson, Goorin Bros. is dedicated to the art of making the finest hats available. All one has to do is walk into their retail space at 1612 Stockton Street to see evidence of that. Hats of numerous styles, shapes and colors line shelves, hang from hooks, and basically cover nearly every square inch of surface area, whether horizontal or vertical, that there is in the store. If you love hats, especially hats that your not likely to see on every head at every corner of the city then this place is for you. Swing by if you get a chance. You won't be disappointed.

Hats are such a tricky accessory. On one hand, a nice hat can be the keystone of one's look. However, it has the potential to make a guy look tacky, or more often, a total douche.
Thanks for suggesting a place with the expertise to find someone their best lid. Because contrary to the claim inside the band, hats are not, and should not be, one size fits all.
I have problems finding hats that fit right, but I truly need sun protection for my pale noggin. I'll have to give Goorin Bros. a try for online ordering with the sizes they carry.
Stephen is right. You must be careful. Balancing, restraint, functionality and awareness of one's surroundings are key.
There's also ALS on Valencia near 15th. Next to the Triumph/Ducati dealer.
