As reported here last week, Sigg has started a voluntary replacement program of its now infamous ubiquitous reusable aluminum bottle (aka an urban canteen).
Despite numerous allegations of a cover-up disguised as an effort to protect the proprietary formula of their bottle liners Sigg continues to maintain that nothing was really ever hidden (from mysigg.com):
Within the reusable bottle water category, polycarbonate plastic bottles (#7) came under scrutiny in early 2008 because they were found to leach BPA. As a result, many consumers turned to metal bottles (aluminum and stainless steel) because these bottles had no issues with BPA migration. Prior to its transition, SIGG utilized a water-based epoxy liner which contained a trace amount of BPA. The bottles were thoroughly and regularly tested in both the USA and Switzerland and all tests revealed absolutely no migration or leaching of BPA or any other substance from the protective inner liner. These tests have been public information on the SIGG website for several years and remain there today."

Did anyone actually ever receive any replacement bottles from Sigg? I returned my bottles as per Sigg instructions and USPS confirmed they were delivered on September 14th, since then I have heard nothing.... All calls to Sigg's offices are met with the recorded message "this mailbox is full", they have not responded to emails sent through their corporate web-site either?... If the return policy was supposed to restore faith in the company, it's not really working for me at this point! Was anyone else successful in receiving a replacement?
@5exiles - I received 3 replacement bottles through the Whole Foods exchange program. It was quick and easy.

Apparently, 5exiles and I should have used the Whole Foods program. I've had the same experience - USPS confirmation, full voice mailbox and all, but definitely no replacement certificate. Could there be grounds for a class action suit here? Or at least massed mail fraud complaints (on the USPS website)?
Found this site trying to get the same information posted in the previous messages. I returned 2 bottles as soon as the recall came out and I haven't heard a word in response. I will definitely not be buying another Sigg bottle if this is the way they do business.
I have also not heard from Sigg, even though I sent the bottles in mid-September -- should have taken them to Whole Foods. Attempts to find a contact email at Sigg are fruitless. I'm buying Kleen Kanteen from now on.
I paid for postage and had my bottle shipped in September. My parents did the same with their bottles. We have not heard or received anything from Sigg. I will never buy a product from that company again. I've moved onto an $8 all stainless steel bottle from Target. It works great as opposed to the Sigg bottles that have the proprietary coating wear off where the threaded cap screws in.
I also sent my bottle back in September and had the delivery confirmed and still haven't received anything from Sigg. What a rip-off!! If I had had a store nearby to which I could have taken the bottle I would have but that was not an option. So...we seem to be out the bottle(s) and postage as well.
I felt the need to come back here and retract my previous statement. Not only did I receive two bottles back (I sent in two), but I received an additional "bonus" bottle since they didn't have one of the exact same bottles for replacement. The package also included an apology stating that they were a 15-man show in the US and replaced thousands of bottles with their small staff. Mine showed up two days ago, so everyone should start receiving theirs soon!
We actually recieved bottles from Sigg ... except that we sent in FOUR and they sent us back THREE replacement bottles. We to have been trying to contact them for our fourth bottle, but have not had any success. I guess the Sigg replacement bottles are not quite so free ...
