Duckie Brown is serious

Fashion designers need to take chances, especially when it comes to clothing for men. Otherwise men's ready to wear can be a bit on the safe and boring side. It takes a lot of imagination and a daring character to really create something different when all you have to work with is shirt, pants, shoes, lather, rinse, repeat.

It is for this very reason that Duckie Brown, by New York designers Steven Cox and Daniel Silver, is important. They take the challenge of dressing men well very seriously. For this, whether or not you love, or can fit in their clothes or not, you should be at least appreciative, if not downright grateful.

Duckie Brown takes what we know and expect from menswear and tweaks it in such a way that it forces you to take notice and reconsider what it is you are looking at. This Fall, like a lot of designers, Duckie Brown is putting out turtle necks and scarves but as you can see from the pictures they are not making exactly what everyone would normally envision when they hear such words. Their turtle necks are sleek and shimmery and are meant to be pulled up around the cheeks balaclava style. The scarves consist of various fabrics, sometimes boldly contrasting, that are extra long and intentionally a little bulky - the layers of scarf building upon the chest and stacking up on the shoulders to protect the wearer from the elements while portraying a certain fearlessness. Fantastic!

This Fall looks to be an exciting time for men's fashion and Duckie Brown is leading the way.
