A great example of developing one's own style can be seen in the reality TV shows today. Shows fit a niche market (Jersey, Country, Famous people, tattooed and alternative) and each one flaunts their own unique style. Even other people are aware of it such as New Jersey Governor Chris Christie during a speech in Iowa said to the voters if they didn't vote for candidate Mitt Romney he would be mad 'Jersey-style'. A new reality show about a skater who designs skateparks and ramps finishes the trailer saying the title of the show with 'style' attached to denote a specific way his show defines skateboarding.
The key is to not copy the habits of these trending shows but to search for your own style. Then when it is found, to develop it until it becomes a 'second skin' that lets your character shine. Many times whether you are just developing your style or resetting it, you many make 'stops' along the way with several looks. This is why character development also is integral to proceed on a parallel journey with a person's style. But there are many examples one can research to see how to proceed along your path such as with the many reality TV shows.
