Todd Rundgren is well known for his up tempo version of "Hello It's Me," which became a Top Ten hit and a signature Rundgren Song will be playing the opening of his West Coast Tour at the Palace of Fine Arts on Tuesday
December 1st 7:30 pm.
According to press releases issued by Rundgren’s PR Firm, “PR That Rocks,” “Rundgren is proud to announce the only West Coast live performances of his 1973 classic masterpiece, A Wizard, A True Star. AWATS has been long heralded by the rock press as a defining paradigm-shifting album, but until this year had incredibly never been performed in public in its entirety.”
According to City Box Office, and online ticket seller:
The first ever performance put on by RundgrenRadio.com in Akron, OH and was sold out with over 2400 fans in attendance. The first seven Todd Rundgren AWATS Live performances included multiple costume changes by Todd and some of his most avid and long term fans deemed the concerts "best ever" in their reviews.
Rundgren will be performing with some of the best industry musicians including Jesse Gress former editor of Guitar Magazine, Greg Hawkes co-founder of “The Cars,” Prairie Prince founding member of Journey, Ralph Schuckett who has played most the big names from Whitney Houston to Joan Osborn, Bobby Strickland who has recorded and toured with Todd Rundgren in the past - most recently on "Nearly Human" and "Second Wind," and Kasim Sulton who has worked with Utopia, Meat Loaf, Joan Jett, Hall and Oates, Patti Smith, Patty Smyth, Mick Jagger, and Celine Dion to name just a few.
The AWATS tour next shows are December 2 in Sacramento at the Crest Theatre, December 4 in Los Angeles at the Orpheum Theatre, and December 5 in Ventura at the Majestic Theatre. Then the show moves on to London, UK at the Hammersmith Apollo.
Philly.com called the Rundgren performance “The real revelation was Rundgren, who delivered a screaming, squalling broadside of acid rock. It was a thrilling aural flashback.”
