Comedian Chris Rock’s new documentary “Good Hair,” an HBO Film, opens this month. According the films, distribution company Roadside Attractions, “Good Hair” is “An exposé of comic proportions that only Chris Rock could pull off, GOOD HAIR visits beauty salons and hairstyling battles, scientific laboratories and Indian temples to explore the way hairstyles impact the activities, pocketbooks, sexual relationships, and self-esteem of the black community.”

The idea for Chris Rock’s new documentary “Good Hair” was sparked from a Bronner Bros hair show Rock attended 15 years ago while doing a stand-up gig. Rock noticed that most of the attendees seemed to be fanatical about the show and that people were coming from all over the world to discover what was new and exciting in the Black hair care industry. His daughter re-sparked the idea of making a documentary during a ride home in the car when she made a comment to Rock about her friend, who is white, having "Good Hair" according to his interview on the Oprah Show.

The film was produced by the same team that created “Rock's acclaimed and Emmy® Award-winning HBO series The Chris Rock Show, including producer Nelson George, writer-director Jeff Stilson, writers Lance Crouther and Chuck Sklar. The film is produced by Chris Rock and Kevin O'Donnell.”
