The 61st Primetime Emmy Awards are set for Sunday and no one told Hollywood or Emmy we were in a recession.  Customarily, sponsors and advertiser will throw lavish parties and shower nominees with gift bags filled with cosmetics, jewelry, and for some exotic trips; this year is no different.

According to the Associate Press some of those star-studded gifts included “luxury trips to Bora Bora, couture dresses from Sodaliscious, designer shades from Emilio Pucci (Collins grabbed two pairs), eco-friendly baby clothes and chemical-free cosmetics, plus mini-facials and manicures to beautify nominees and their entourages.”

The story also reported that the cast of "The Office," "True Blood," "Desperate Housewives" and "Entourage" were all wearing platinum.  The Platinum Guild International provided each cast member with a one-of-a-piece to wear over the weekend and during the show.

Some of the more "A List Celebrities"

were invited to private parties because the sponsors did not want to disclose the value of the gifts for security reasons.  According to the AP those “stars were free to select from vintage Cartier and Tiffany jewels and unique platinum pieces from around the world.”

If our country is in a recession then someone forgot to tell Hollywood and Emmy.
