The New York Yankees riveting 13-inning, five-hour plus Game 2 of the American League Championship Series took the top position in the weekly TV ratings, according to The Nielsen Company. That game, which ended after 1 a.m. Sunday, had a 10.2 rating with viewers in excess of 2 million on Fox 5.
Friday’s night ALCS opener took in just under 2 million for a second-place showing.
Not to be outdone, the NFL, specifically, the Jets overtime loss to the Bills, held down number three locally, for the week ending October 18. It took four hours and gave WCBS 1.8 million with a 9 rating.
Additionally, the Jets Monday night collapse in Miami, on October 12, was seen by 900,000 on ESPN, good enough for a Top 10 finish.
Otherwise, it was the usual suspects.
“60 Minutes” at number four, with 1.2 million on WCBS (started 75 minutes late thanks Sunday night's late Jets run over)
WABC had “Dancing With The Stars” taking up residence at five and six, with a combined 2.1 million viewers.
Three dramas tied for the week’s seventh-best, “NCIS” and “The Mentalist” on WCBS and "Grey’s Anatomy" on WABC.
WNBC’s highest-ranked program was “Sunday Night Football” tying for 18. “The Jay Leno Show” was not among the Top 30 shows locally.
