On this coming Monday evening, December 26th, there will be an Aikido training with many of the Sensei’s and studens from the new AikidoAssociation that was created present on the mat. This will occur at the dojo at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, located in Palo Alto. The training will be from 6 to 8 PM.
The new association, Western Aikido Association, includes dojos both in the Greater Bay Area and elsewhere. As noted in my earlier article here, the Association is open to all Aikido schools and training styles. It also welcomes martial artists from other disciplines to train and also offer workshops and seminars at the dojos in the Association.
Included in the Monday training will be jo and/or bokken katas based on Hiroshi Kato Sensei’s katas. This approach to weapons training is very much akin to what one can see viewing O Sensei’s movements (via YouTube, for example).
There will be a nominal mat fee charged for the class. Please contact Frager Sensei at rfrager@niyet.com with any questions about the training, or especially, about the new Association.
This Western Aikido Association has stated that it is committed to making a difference for all its members, on and off the mat.
