The Orange County mixed martial arts scene has a new face in town. Headed by brothers Gabriel and Joey Hinojoza and held at South Coast Kickboxing in Costa Mesa, Bring the Pain MMA is a low-cost program offered through the Walking Tall Foundation.
"I like the fact that I am helping these kids," said Gabriel Hinojoza, "Most of these kids come from lower-income families and and may not have any figure to show them how to be a responsible person. My brother and i really push that on them. We make sure they have good grades in school and if they don't they can't come in the gym and train with us."
In a typical BTP MMA class, students work on wrestling for MMA, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and striking to improve their game. There are no age limitations, there are students as young as fourteen years old.
"I am happy that they want to learn something it keeps them out of trouble keeps them out of the streets. Wrestling helps them learn what discipline and sacrifice is all about. it teaches them how to push them selves and not to give up. I try to put as much of this in them that i can."
