Five tips for finding a PR job in Washington, DC

Looking for a public relations position in the Washington, DC metropolitan area? Here are a number of great resources to check out!

1. The National Capital Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (http://www.PRSA-NCC.org) lists PR job openings in the area on their website. 

2. Also check out Washington Women in Public Relations (http://www.WWPR.org).  If you subscribe to their newsletter, you will get monthly notification of job openings.

Both of these groups offer very good networking oppportunities.  

3. A third good local resource is Capitol Communicator, which lists local PR jobs (http://www.capitolcommunicator.com).  Also check their calendar for events related to job search.

4. If you are looking for temp to permanent PR job openings, the person you want to talk to is Kate Perrin, at PRofessional Solutions (http://www.prstaffing.com/.  Please tell her Mary Fletcher Jones sent you!  

You can follow her blog, The Capital Buzz, at http://capitalbuzz.blogspot.com  I recommend you subscribe to this blog. It will keep you up-to-date on all the PR happenings in the Washington metro area.

5. Finally, last I heard, Levick Strategic Communications and Booz-Allen Hamilton were hiring for PR positions at all levels.

    Thanks so much Mary for the tips. I own a Christian PR firm in NYC and the tough times have caught up to us. I would love to see if we can obtain some outsourcing oppotunities with your tips.

    The IABC/Washington Job Bank is another great resource for communications professionals seeking employment in the DC/Baltimore region.
