Details of California’s 26.3 billion dollar budget deficit deal, reached Monday after intense negotiations during a period where the state issued IOU’s, reveals a significant reduction in across the board state services
The state K-12 school system and community colleges will suffer the most severe cuts, with reductions of 6 billion over two years, while the University of California and the California State University systems will see their budgets reduced by 3 billion. Savings of 1.3 billion will come from cuts in programs for health care for the poor. The state will save another 1.3 billion by forcing state workers to take 3 unpaid furlough days per month, and another 1.2 billion will be saved by releasing 27,000 prisoners.
It is interesting to note that there was no attempt to address the massive strain that illegal immigration places on California’s budget. For example, it is estimated that California spends 7.7 billion annually to educate the children of illegal aliens. If that money was instead retained, in theory California would not have to cut their education spending at all for fiscal 2009-10. Many believe this is a very tangible illustration of how illegal immigration impacts and affects the citizens of California. In their misguided attempt to be “compassionate,” the people of that state who elected their political leaders may find themselves with children less educated and possibly ill equipped to enter an ultra competitive workplace as a result.
Think about that for a moment.
Ironically, the state budget cuts in health care programs and the savings from releasing prisoners would also be offset by denying illegals entry into the country. The annual cost of providing health care for illegal aliens is estimated to be 1.3 billion while the cost to incarcerate illegal prisoners is 1.4 billion. The small economic benefit of illegal aliens not withstanding; in effect, treating the afflictions and housing the prisoners of the illegal population is resulting in less comprehensive health care for the poor and a potentially higher crime rate in California. There is a growing belief that when the legitimate citizens of the United States begin to become significantly affected, the “rights” of illegal immigrants should be a secondary consideration.
There is already considerable anger building in California from many educators and from the disenfranchised, since both stand to lose substantially in this budget deal. The chorus from those who put California in this mess to begin with will begin to trumpet their familiar tune in the coming days; vilifying the wealthy and corporations. They will demand that the state restore these budget cuts and that it must impose yet higher taxes on both individuals and businesses to solve the current crisis.
Good idea. Maybe California can run all their businesses and wealthy people out of the state. We would welcome them here in Arizona; we have a huge deficit too.

I don't think you get it, sir. It's just like the healthcare debate. The drug companies are behind it because they're getting 47MM new customers. Same thing with illegals: make em legal, and you have umpteen new CA taxpayers.
The majority of illegals are low skilled workers who tend to have large families that need to be educated & therefore pose a huge burden on our taxpayers & school system. Legalizing low skilled workers & requiring that they pay income tax isn't going to have the positive affect some would think. Their tax contribution won't be sufficient to offset the cost of the public services they'll use & even more of them will now feel entitled to come forward & apply for public assistance such as welfare, WIC, Medicare, food stamps, section 8 housing, Earned Income Tax Credit etc...
Once they're legal, employers will be forced to pay a higher wage & provide benefits & workers comp insurance. All of this means the price of goods & services will increase and we'll lose the value of their cheap labor.
Consumers & taxpayers will be negatively impacted & society & culture will run amok with a new "legal" under-class with a huge sense of entitlement that refuses to assimilate or speak English.
You mean you have umpteen new Oblahblah supporters at taxpayer expenses . This will not stop under the table cash payments , and would raise tax debts through the EIC . Which will pay illegals more than they would pay in .
In order to pay income taxes you need an income generated by a job. In order to have a job, you need to be employable. However being employable in a saturated job market, makes it difficult to get a job. Being a newly legalized citizen, with dependent children and elderly in the house, but unemployed is like winning the Lottery! Game the system, and you can live off the taxpayers. Do you pay taxes? You must pay more! More! More!
California will NEVER recuperate until it halts and reverses the invasion of illegal aliens.
California's leadership demonstrates it's priorities are in alignment with those of the leadership of the United States. The needs and desires of the citizen are secondary to those of illegal aliens.
The endless cascade of illegal immigrants will never go home to their country of origin. The Sacramento bleeding hearts have made it clear that their goal is to give away middle class tax dollars and state services to illegal immigrants and their children without a thought to what effect it has on the rest of us.

One would ask why? because the jail system is a business, it cost more money to keep someone lockup than to send them to school. I've stated time and time again on my radio show and in comments on blogs and news sites as this that Gov. Schwarzenegger could be "the hero he plays in all his action films" in real life if he would sign one of two or three EOs and go on a news conference speaking blitz of the state from Arcata to Oceanside telling illegal aliens (with Spanish interpreter standing next to him) to "Go home! The People of CA want you out of here!". The EOs I'm referring to would be directives to state law enforcement regarding handling of the self-deportation of illegals as well as directives mandating the CHP and other state law enforcement to turn their attention to the previously "hands off" gang banger illegals who have been hiding under the Sanctuary policies of Special Order 40 since 1979. With the Governor taking an active role in getting the 10 million-plus illegals out of our state, things will start happening immediately and in no time, the citizens of CA will have our state back.

Ahnold says he's balancing the budget without raising taxes. What he isn't saying, is that part of that balancing is taking money from cities across the state that are local revenue (property, gas taxes, etc.) So the State may not take more taxes from me, but my local taxes will go up. A tax is a tax and we'll be taxed more. We're out of money and illegals haven't received one single cut - we're still giving them education, healthcare, jail-time, welfare, food stamps, etc. When will We the People force the government to stop illegal immigration. I'VE HAD IT! And Obama says he won't give them coverage in the HC bill, but he lied. The government just said they don't have to provide ID to enroll in HC - NO MORE! The illegals have bankrupted us and continue to do so because no one will stand up to them.

The People of CA are going to have to take pitchforks to the State Capitol in huge numbers before Ahnold's going to do anything constructive...I talk about illegal immigration in CA all the time, I send letters, have experts on my shows, but I guess the majority of people even in CA don't care or don't realize how easy solving the crisis would be if only Ahnold would "do the right thing".

Any illegal alien who is working in this country has violated several of our laws including: ID theft, document fraud, Social Security fraud, "I-9 Form" employment fraud, conspiracy to violate immigration laws, and income tax evasion.

Another way to achieve the goal of having "umpteen new CA taxpayers" is by increasing the number of LEGAL immigrants that we let in each year. The best thing about increasing the number of LEGAL immigrants we let in instead of handing out ANOTHER amnesty to illegal aliens is that we wouldn't be rewarding illegal behavior.
California is not alone in the cost of educating illegal aliens children, but the state has no choice. Remember, the US Supreme Court forced every state to educate those children based on their decision in 1984. It does not apply to colleges or universities though. Here is an opportunity to remove illegal aliens from California's state colleges and universities and deport them. It would create more room for citizens in California to attend those universities and colleges.
Push has come to shove in Cali, and it is obvious that some force is willing to sacrifice every native son and citizen in order to keep the illegals in the state. This makes no sense on its face, but someone's agenda is being upheld. I left the Titanic (Cali) earlier this year as I don't care to finance this invasion with my taxes, nor can I stand daily life living in nuevo Mexico. Now the Mexican Consulate has moved into the court to "help" direct the illegals to free services. Where is the sovereignty of the USA?

What good is representative democracy to the American citizenry when they aren't represented and will not remove, over and over, if neccessary, those politicians who continue to abuse them. Americans should have the attitude by now, that if the elite and the politicians want chaos, the public will be more than willing to give it to them. We will have thousands of one term Congresspeople. That's right, their careers end after two years. But we aren't even close to that kind of activism.

levotb, those were kind words, thanks. I have been in this battle since I saw it start in the 1970's, but can now see that it's a lost cause. The only viable "weapon" I had left was to take my money out of the state. However, I will do whatever I can to help from afar. Funny enough, where I moved is a remote island and there is one Hispanic family who happens to live next door. Guess who plays their obnoxious music too loud, who lets their Rottweiler roam the neighborhood, doesn't know a word of English? Fortunately, the majority in the area aren't having this and have let them know it will not be tolerated. The majority are former residents of Cali who left for the same reasons I did.

illegal aliens pay rent...the landord pays property taxes (including school district taxes)
they all pay city and state sales tax when they buy groceries, clothing and cars.
they have income and social security taxes taken out of their pay checks and most do not file income tax forms to recover any of it...they also can not file for social security at retirement, so that money stays in the system.
YEAH, SURE walrus. I suppose the reason California is bankrupt is that my 92 year old grandma on a small fixed income, doesn't pay enough property taxes. Having paid property taxes for 65 years wasn't enough I guess--for the State of California.
