Assault charges filed against Navy SEALS for terrorist's bloody lip

  Navy Seals-flickr.com

Ahmed Hashim Abed, one of the most notorious terrorists in Iraq and the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004, has claimed his rights were violated when he was punched in the mouth by his Navy SEAL captors.

According to a foxnews.com story, 3 of the Navy SEAL’s involved in the operation will face court martial charges in January 2010. A spokeswoman for the special operations component of U.S. Central Command, Lt. Col. Holly Silkman, confirmed Tuesday that three SEALs have been charged in connection with the capture of a detainee.

Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class, Matthew McCabe, is charged with dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault. Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2 and Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1 are both charged with dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement.

The Blackwater Fallujah massacre was a particularly gruesome display of the barbarism and complete lack of humanity exhibited by many enemy combatants in the war on terror.

While transporting supplies, the four security agents were killed when they were ambushed by enemy fighters. Their bodies were grotesquely butchered, burned and dragged through the streets of Fallujah. Two of the bodies were then hung from a bridge to offer the press a photo opportunity. Abed, who was later identified as the primary suspect, was apprehended on September 3rd.

Frankly, most Americans could probably care less if Ahmed Hashim Abed had his eye removed with a hot poker, let alone punched in the mouth during apprehension. The “politically correct” environment that continues to creep into society like a slow working poison has obviously invaded the formerly isolated United States military.

The reality that a potential court martial may await these brave Navy SEALS who risked their lives to protect their fellow Americans should sicken all of us.

It leads one to wonder how long right and wrong, evil and righteousness will remain distorted and vulgarly twisted in the name of “compassion," and how long Americans will continue to tolerate it.

WTH? Bloody lip... the basterd caught murdered innocent people. Yeah, punish the men and women who provide us with the blanket of freedom in this country. What a joke!

Absolutely pitiful, sounds like this butchering bastard has figured out the US Justice system and has probably acquired a weasel American attorney to represent him in a lawsuit. These SEAL's should be out in the field doing their thankless job of hunting down and exterminating these demons. Hopefully the News Media doesn't pressure the Obama Administration to step in and prosecute these SEAL's on this murderer's behalf. This should not even be considered for a Court's Martial or any other legal action. Sad

"The Blackwater Fallujah massacre was a particularly gruesome display of the barbarism and complete lack of humanity exhibited by many enemy combatants in the war on terror."

Yeah. It was a gruesome display. A horrible reaction to the emergence of the photographic evidence of our own lack of humanity at Abu Ghraib.

Given the charges - including failure to safeguard a detainee and giving misleading statements - it sure sounds as though this may have happened AFTER the detainee was already subdued and in custody. If that's the case, then, and I hate to say it, the SEALs deserve some sort of punishment. Other media says they rejected non-judicial punishment and THEY requested the court martial. If they are court martialed, its their own doing, and they could have avoided it by either accepting the non-judicial punishment, or - and gee, here's a thought - by not abusing detainees. America is better than that.

Absolutely disgusted with the government right now. This guys burns Americans and hangs them off a bridge, and he is protected. How can we ask the SEALS to protect us, when we do this kind of thing to them.

The terrorits are playing us like a cheap fiddle! Emily and her ilk will soon make it so no one dares lift a finger to protect us. The "left" won't be happy until there isn't a shread of our great country left. I applaud the SEALS! Thank you for doing a job that so few any more, have the guts to do! You should have cut his head off before you hit him in the mouth!

This should be an eye opener for you potential hard charging SOCOM recruits, who want to serve your country to fight terriorism. This current administration makes me sick, you should be giving these men metals of valor, instead of making them an example. If you want to kick a terriorist ass you should go and join the French Foreign Legion or the Israeli Army.

I think Emily needs to be air dropped into the heart of Taliban held Pakistan or Afghanistan...alone at night. I'm not totally heartless. I would leave her with one AR-15 (not an M4 assault rifle those are expensive) with one box of 5.56 ammo (20 rounds for the gun haters out there) one magazine, one day's rations and water, and no map or compass.

Her sympathy for terrorists and her unveiled naked contempt for America and it's patriots will evaporate immediately after she is captured and interrogated Al-Qaeda style.

Emily, you think a bloody lip is cruel and unusual treatment, you have no idea what our enemies are capable of. Cops routinely use lethal force against unarmed citizens and never see the inside of a court room.

That our government would take the word of a terrorist over that of Navy SEALs is beyond unbelivable. The message this is going to send the troops in the field is simple. Take no prisoners. A bullet in the head is a hell of a lot cheaper than a career ending court martial. Everyone needs to burn up the phone lines to their congresswhore and demand the immediate dismissal of all charges against the SEALs. Anything less is TREASON.

In addition to the posting these comments, we all should be writing our Senators and Representatives to stop this nonsense. The boys in uniform will cease doing the job of protecting America if our government continues to hamper their efforts and threaten them with prosecution (viz. the two border patrol officers) when they do, do their jobs. Bloody lip? Oh, poor thing! LDC, Ph.D.

This is wrong. The government ought to be pinning medals on for capturing the worthless, pondscum terrorist. It is war. Our government is starting to scare me. I urge everyone to write, call, or email the Senators and Reps. This has to stop.

As a former Navy SEAL, I find myself sitting here thinking that I may need blood pressure medicine even though my blood pressure is fine. What has our country come to? What are our Admirals, Captains and Commanders thinking? Why are our best Commandos facing charges when they should be in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade today? This story really, really ticks me off and has sparked a fire within me that hasn't been lit for awhile.

It should cause a huge outcry by all Americans, unfortunately we will be ignored by this administration which is hell-bent on "making nice" with Muslim extreemists.

I'm speechless. All this over a bloody lip? The government and the military train these men to be the best of the best and to risk their lives protecting the nation...and yet they get prosecuted for doing the very thing that they are taught and trained to do? Lets see what the goverment and humanitarians have to say when SEALS and the rest of the military decide to no longer serve and protect their country. lets see what the humanitarians have to say when the terrorists they protect start blowing up their asses.

in addition...Emily get ur ass out to Afghanistan or Iraq and see what these men are risking everyday just so u would be safe from these inhuman, sadistic, heartless terrorists. why are u defending them when they want nothing more than to hate u and see u dead?

First, instead of secretly arresting him, he probably should have inadvertently died while resisting arrest. But since these men followed regulations, they're being punished. There are legitimate questions to be asked: Did he receive the fat lip while resisting arrest? IF he received in while in custody, was it in American or Iraqi custody? Did he provoke someone? Was it self inflicted? What medical evidence is there that he was punched in the gut? Sadly, KSM will received more legal rights than our heroes.

If they were to break rank and go against orders, they would have been unable witness him killing himself when confronted instead of punching him while in custody.

I agree with Crys. This man was being held by the Iraqis. Now who would you rather make complaints to? I don't think he would have gotten much sympathy from his Iraqi jailer if he complained of a fat lip. So let's blame the Americans and I can go back to their jail. I'm sure they will be found innocent but what happens the nexttime a team goes through a door. No time to think twice. Ifone soldier dies it hangs on the commander that passed this up the line. They have gotten civilian lawyers at their own cost. They will need help when the time comes.

Does anyone believe in innocent until proven guilty anymore...
Its only a minority of misguided Americans who think torture is actually productive in any way...not to mention is completely immoral.
The truth will prevail. It might take a while, but it will.
I've been censored from several youtube vids, for trying to defend humanity and freedom. We cant let them win....we cant let these torturing draconians to win.
    Dont believe the lies.

Are you serious? For almost a year, these mean have been out of full-training status to prove their innocence through exoneration. I would like to see any politician wear our emblem while serving our country. To second guess the method by which a terrorist was apprehended AND KEPT ALIVE??? Read this and then look in the mirror:

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
