What's new at Comicopia, May 5, 2010

Flower in a Storm, Vol. 1

Wednesday is new comic book day, and the folks at Boston's Comicopia have their weekly list online to keep fans up-to-date on what's actually shipping each week.

Yesterday's big arrival is volume one of Flower in a Storm, a new series from Viz Media's Shojo Beat line. Online reviews have been mixed, though most of the Boston manga contingency has yet to weigh in. Angela Eastman, a soon-to-be student at Lesley University in Cambridge, writes at Suite 101, "VIZ Media's latest shojo manga Flower in a Storm has its funny and even endearing moments. But the manga has a shallow plot and dull side characters."

Also from Viz this week comes volume two of Yun Kouga's rebooted shojo series, Crown of Love (reviewed here at Manga Bookshelf); volumes 44-48 of One PieceInuYasha (VIZBIG Edition) volume three; volume one of Shonen Sunday's MAOH: Juvenile Remix; and the June edition of Shonen Jump

Digital Manga Publishing ships volume two of their Yellow omnibus (yaoi) series this week. CMX ships volume three of their shonen series, Broken Blade. Lastly, Bandai Entertainment releases volume one of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, the special "Knight" edition, intended for female readers.
