Q. Is red lipstick for everyone?
A. Working as a make-up arist, you get approached by many women that wonder about how to wear red lipstick. Some have nightmares about wearing the wrong shade and are scared that they will end up looking like circus clowns! Well ladies, again, here is the same answer for you that was given to the rest of the inquirers... it's all about the shade!
When out shopping for a red lipstick you have to weigh out all your options. You must pay attention to detail when it comes to making a decision with such a dramatic shade. Paying attention to undertones, textures and finishes of the shade will save you a lot of time and money. Be careful that the shade will not dry out your lips, wash you out or even make you look overdone. Also many shades can be altered when paired with a lip liner. All of these factors play a huge role in finding that perfect shade.
Too much to handle? Well don't fret ladies, all major department stores and specialty retailers offer complimentary consultations to assist you with any questions and concerns in reference to finding that perfect shade that fits you. Whether you are going for a day time look or an evening look for a night on the town with your beau.
To get you started, here are a three suggestions to help you jump-start your search.

Great Article
Yes, red lipstick can be for everyone. I think it also is all about how you combine it with all the other makeup on your face. Bold red lips need very minimal eye makeup. Then the red pops and people aren't distracted from it by a heavy eye look.
