The second game of the back-to-back series of the Maine Red Claws and the Bakersfield Jam saw a very different game than the first game. The Jam handed the Red Claws their third lose of the season with a 115-98 defeat.

Bakersfield, who, with this win, won its second game of the season, outscored the Red Claws in the first three quarters. Maine tried to comeback in the fourth quarter with 37 points. However, the Jam negated Maine with 37 points of its own.

Whereas the Red Claws presented a balanced attack in their first game, the Jam brought it in the second game. Bakersfield had six players in double digits, led by Jeremy Wise with 24 points.

As a group, the starting five for Maine were outscored by the Jam starters, 62-47. Maine’s Trey Gilder led all scorers with 28 points, but he was the only starter to score over nine points.

Here are some other stats of note: the Jam improved their shooting from the first meeting to the second (from 34 up to 48 percent), whereas Maine’s shooting dropped (from 50 to 42 percent). Also, the Red Claws were out-rebounded 50-40.

The 2-11 Bakersfield Jam next see action December 29th against the Erie Bayhawks. The Maine Red Claws, now 8-3, return to action New Years Eve against the top-ranked D-League team, the Iowa Energy. The game begins at 1pm at the Portland Expo.
