Magic: The Gathering Scars of Mirrodin spoilers will be rampant this weekend at the Penny Arcade Expo, but a Japanese source has unveiled the mythic rarity prerelease promo card, Wurmcoil Engine. The statistics may be slightly off on this current translation of Wurmcoil Engine, but we're confident our interpretation is pretty close.

Wurmcoil Engine
Artifact Creature – Wurm Mythic Rare
Deathtouch, Lifelink
When Wurmcoil Engine is put into the graveyard from play, put a 3/3 artifact wurm token into play with deathtouch and a 3/3 artifact wurm token into play with lifelink.
6/6
Mythic indeed, Wurmcoil Engine offers a metric ton of potential power for six colorless mana. This steel-clad serpent gives the M11 titans a run in terms of sheer bulk and damage output, and can absolutely be considered a bomb level card for Limited play.
As an artifact, Wurmcoil Engine will fit snugly into any deck and there is the considerable possibility that this card will see constructed play. Cards that cleanly destroy creatures only turn this wily wurm into two smaller problems rather than functioning as a solid solution, making Wurm Engine a considerably more dangerous relative of Mitotic Slime.
As you can see from the affiliation watermark, Wurmcoil Engine is clearly a Phyrexian aligned threat, and will be a wonderful mythic rare to witness at the upcoming Scars of Mirrodin prerelease and release events coming up in September. Stay tuned for all the Scars of Mirrodin news, spoilers, and coverage as we head to PAX this weekend!
