Chimeric Mass is the latest Magic: The Gathering Scars of Mirrodin rare spoiler, tweeted over at @dailymtg.  Chimeric Mass is a X mana artifact worth getting "charged up" about.

Chimeric Mass
X
Chimeric Mass enters the battlefield with X charge counters on it.
1: Until end of turn, Chimeric Mass becomes a Construct artifact creature with “This creature's power and toughness are each equal to the number of charge counters on it”

Chimeric Mass allows a player to basically Fireball all available mana into a big colorless "creature on demand" that just begs to interact with one of Scars of Mirrodin's new mechanics, proliferate.

An X artifact that can be played early game to trigger metalcraft requirements or late game as a gigantic slab of shifting steel, Chimeric Mass may actually find its way into the new constructed environment, with the whole scene being turned upside down with Scars of Mirrodin coming in and Alara block on the way out.

For Limited play, there may be some better uncommons that have yet to be spoiled but investing an early pick into this versatile mass of metal seems like a fairly solid idea.

Chimeric Mass will be bursting forth on the scene along with the rest of Scars of Mirrodin on September 25-26 during the prerelease events, where you can pick up a promo copy of Wurmcoil Engine!
