If you've been keeping up with Magic: The Gathering's 2011 Core Set you've probably come upon the mythic rarity "titan cycle" featuring Primeval Titan, Grave Titan, Frost Titan, Inferno Titan, and Sun Titan.  What we've got for you today are some predictions concerning each titan's future chances in the Standard environment (All titans win you the game in Limited.)

Before we begin, let's make sure we all understand that these are preliminary observations and speculations made before we actually see these titanic, mythological monsters actually enter the constructed environment.

Rank 5: Inferno Titan.  The new firebreathing fire titan just doesn't bring a whole lot to the table for 6 mana in an environment that it won't land an attack in (and six mana isn't exactly impressive for 3 damage) Although it's certainly possible that its arc lightning assault and attack could be useful for jarring planeswalker stacked tables, this titan has a lot less promise than say, Siege-Gang Commander.

Rank 4: Frost Titan.  Although we're sure that some control players will attempt to achieve an icy lockdown with frosty the snowman here,  old standbys with better protection like Sphinx of Jwar Isle come across as better finishers.  Frost Titan seems a little clunky in comparison to his other brothers.

Rank 3: Sun Titan.  This is where things get a little sticky, because the top three titans all have clear potential to be "broken".  We're placing Sun Titan in the third slot.  Very shocking, yes, as there are certainly going to be ways to abuse the infinite recursion offered by this vigilant white giant.

Rank 2: Grave Titan.  10 points of power, six mana.  That's some pretty nasty math for the Grave Titan, as this zombie-spawning giant flings his decrepit companions all over the battlefield.  A single attack will take your opponent to half life and even if removed he leaves behind 2 other creatures - Grave Titan is the harbinger of card advantage.

Rank 1: Primeval Titan.  Primeval Titan and Grave Titan are very close in terms of off-the-wall abuse, and Primeval Titan doesn't lend itself to as many deck options as Grave Titan does but the possibilities for this green fetcher are promising - there's plenty of ways to let this titan loose.  Even a cursory glance of prime land targets reveals Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle and Eldrazi Temple. (Kozilek can be played the turn immediately after Primeval Titan).

Grave Titan may be the one to watch - don't write Sun Titan off either.  The titan cycle may surprise everyone when Standard rotates in October as the old decks are chopped up, redone, and redefined.  Anything can happen as we draw closer to the "titanic" release of Magic: The Gathering's 2011 Core Set in just a few weeks!

No way, I'd rank it 1) Inferno 2)Grave Titan 3)Frost Titan 4)Sun Titan (Without combos, say, with Ball Lightning) 5)Primeval Titan.
C'mon, Inferno titan can wipe the board clean extremely fast, and then you pummel your opponent with a huge creature. Grave Titan is self explanatory. Frost Titan can pretty much bypass any of your opponents defenses and can actually end the game pretty quickly. Sun Titan is good, but not as good as the others. Primeval Titan is just another big, green 6/6 trampler pretty much. It won't end the game very quickly most of the time and pretty much forces you to make a deck with a large amount of huge creatures.

this definatly needs to be re-thought, it should be going 1) Grave Titan, 2) Inferno Titan, 3) Sun Titan, 4) Frost Titan, and finaly 5) Primeval titan, ripping out mana is nice, but in comparison to having upto 4+ 2/2 tokens with 3 turns its nothing, on top of that being able to clear a field with inferno titan combined with shiv's embrace or Volcanic Strength way tops over mana ripping and stalling by tapping permanents, sun titan and frost titan's position fit pretty well because they aren't exactly quick enders, frost titan is really just stalling, and sun titan is a good turn around kind of card, but in the end it still isn't a power house by itself

Wow, have any of you guys ever played magic? How is getting absurd amounts of mana to play any bomb spell and get landfall not better than tapping one permanent with frost titan(woo, didn't slow me down at all in limited) or lightning bolting for 6 with inferno titan.
In todays magic enviroment those titans will not be on the board for long if even one turn, at least with grave titan and primevel titan you get two permanents that stay if the titans get pathed or o-ringed or what have you. So, imo Grave and Primevel are way better.

Well, you have to keep in mind these are suggestions for Standard play, not limited. In a tournament Tier 1 deck, the mana fetch for nonbasics like Eldrazi Temple or Raging Ravine is going to far outweigh tapping down 1 permanent. On limited play, they have the list jumbled up, but as it states they are evaluating on Standard play and I think it's correct.

Lol if you have the right deck landfall with Primeval Titan will kill a fast. Have a red green deck built around Primeval,Avemger of Zandikar,Omnath,Sakiko Mother of Summer. With some Birds of P and elfish Pipers, And red fire bolts lighting bolts, I pull right your dead by turn 5 and there is nothing you can do about it. I get 3 lands a elfish piper and a bird and any big card your done. I you can get blockers in time by turn 8 i am fireballing you for 50

Sun Titan leaves behind permanents as well. Also you can just continue to bring back cards like terramorphic expanse or qasali pridemage. People write off white really fast these days because they don't get any overpowered cards these days sheesh.
