Steel Overseer is a rare artifact creature in Magic: The Gathering's M11 core set, and may be a sign of things to come in October's Scars of Mirrodin release.  Let's take a look at the colorless construct, Steel Overseer.

Though we're all fairly certain we'll never see anything like Mirrodin's modular mistakes again, Steel Overseer may whisper hints from the future of Magic: The Gathering, along with the artifact-inclined Hoarding Dragon.

Steel Overseer is just begging to be combined with something like Thopter Foundry.  Steel Overseer's constructed potential will have to wait until there are some worthy artifact creatures or engines (probably in Scars of Mirrodin, sorry, Juggernaut, you're not what we're looking for here.)

Until then, let's examine Steel Overseer in Limited - solid as steel!  Basically, Steel Overseer will just inflate himself to an acceptable level and then begin attacking, as a 2 mana play that can fit into any color, this can be seen as a viable first pick rare card.  If you happen to collect any other artifact creatures during the draft, like the aforementioned Juggernaut, Steel Overseer gets even better.

Steel Overseer may be a selection to speculate a bit on, since there may be considerable applications for it in the future.  For now, enjoy this automaton army-asset as you rip Steel Overseer out of Magic: The Gathering's M11 core set packs at the release and prerelease events coming up in July!
