Gargoyle Sentinel is an uncommon artifact creature in Magic: The Gathering's M11 core set. Let's take a look at Gargoyle Sentinel:
Gargoyle Sentinel

Artifact Creature - Gargoyle Uncommon
Defender
3: Gargoyle Sentinel loses defender and gains flying until end of turn.
3/3
Gargoyle Sentinel is an interesting new take on the "inanimate objects that suddenly come alive" theme from Magic: The Gathering's history with cards like Jade Statue and Mishra's Factory. Rather than being "turned off" until activation like many other cards of this style, Gargoyle Sentinel is still quite useful as a 3/3 defender until needed to attack.
Gargoyle Sentinel is rather uninteresting for constructed play, although there's some potential interaction with things like Overgrown Battlement. No, what's going to be interesting about Gargoyle Sentinel is its role in limited play.
Gargoyle Sentinel is difficult to fit into the pick order as of right now, and will likely be complicated to gauge for some time after M11's release, due to the fact that it is colorless and can seamlessly fit into any deck and certainly isn't a first pick.
Gargoyle Sentinel is much better than "any 23rd card", and can be used for early game defense and take to the sky for some evasive attacks later on in the game when the player is flush with mana to activate Gargoyle Sentinel.
Gargoyle Sentinel is sort of like a better version of Ogre Sentry, the extra point of colorless mana tacked on to the casting cost is essentially a nonfactor. Preliminary assessment considers Gargoyle Sentinel a middle of the pack pick.

Though a bit pricey, it's also a handy defender against flying creatures (for any colors that are lacking in air defense).
