Basically, while other spells can be responded to, split second will ensure that your spell goes off and has the final word - Once Krosan Grip hits the stack, there's no way to counter it or mess around with the board until the spell has resolved. When Krosan Grip sets out to destroy something, it gets the job done every time.
Krosan Grip is a staple in many Elder Dragon Highlander decks featuring green, and should be more sought after than July's Anathemancer, June's Elvish Visionary, and May's Cloudpost.
