Illinois declares war on gun ownership

The Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) is warning gun owners about a new attempt by the state legislature to quietly stifle gun ownership even further throughout the state, known as HB 180.

In what is already one of the most hostile anti-gun states in the country, this bill would impose sweeping new regulations on gun shops that would increase costs and excessively complicate the process of purchasing a firearm.

For instance, it would make even the very existence of all gun shops subject to the arbitrary whims of the Illinois State Police by creating yet another intrusive government licensing process in which the police would have sole discretion over who gets to sell guns. It would also require that all guns be registered with the state and enable any police officer anywhere to completely shut down a shop at will in order to conduct frivolous searches and "records reviews."

Never mind the staggering nationwide drop in crime that accompanied record gun sales in 2009 (as I noted here). 48 other states have figured out that an armed citizenry is the solution, rather than the problem, yet Democrats here in Illinois still continue to insist on disarming law-abiding citizens and treating our constitutional right to bear arms as some kind of scourge on humanity.

To fight back against this insanity, click here and tell your state representative to vote "NO" on HB 180 (scroll down). Click here to find your elected officials.

Also, be sure to join citizens from across the state in Springfield on March 10th to stand up for our gun rights.

I see the Nazis in the general assembly are at it again.... HB 180 is unconstitutional. They know they can't do anything about the second amendment. But they are trying to regulate gun ownership to death and make it cost prohibitive to own a gun. If the socialist dictators had their way, they would make the rules like the Marijuana Tax Stamp were, impossible to comply with.

So, why do the voters of Illinois keep reelecting these politicians that have absolutely no regard for the safety of the citizens of Illinois? Sounds like the people of Illinois WANT ONLY the police and the criminals to have guns. If that's what they want, then let them have the unsafe conditions these laws make. It won't be long until nobody will want to visit Illinois for ANY reason. Let their crime rates soar, after all, that's what the people want.

It sucks that Illinois is this way. I live in Kentucky, about an hour away from Illinois. There are places that I would like to visit there but refuse to on account of the idiotic people that govern it. But to put it into perspective, Illinois' "public servants" are not elected, they are bought. The individuals that would ordinarily vote for pro-Constitutional delegates are stifled by the Union bosses that are in and of themselves corrupt. They force you to join the Unions, then dictate how you vote. Although the power to change all of this is up to the people of Illinois, it will not be easy nor cheap. I just hope things will come out for the better.

Otter asked an important question “why do people keep voting for these people”

Here’s why the political system in Illinois is so controlled that it’s almost impossible to get on the ballot as a 3rd party or independent.

That means run as a democrat or a republican. If you’re not an insider or independently wealthy you cant get any money or support from the party leadership.

Plus we have the status quo endorsements. In the last election the NRA/ISRA endorsed Kirk Dillard who is part of the Edgar machine.

The republican Edgar model is act like a Chicago democrat.

    example
I wanted to run in Illinois once as an independent I needed 6000 signatures to get on the ballot but if I wanted to run as a dem/rep I only needed 840-880 signatures

Thanks Illinoise for taking the title of Criminals paradise away from California. With such a strong and hostile stance towards your law abiding peasents on gun ownership. Criminals should find prey that is way easier to victimize than out here in libbyland also known as brokefornia, crimefornia, The peoples republic of California. So please by all means keep on living in your fantesey world that guns cause crime and wait for the back lash from your states voters come November. ALL Politicalns need a serious wake up call.

There is something wrong with that. Sounds like a serious discrimination case here. Might be worth challenging in the legal system.
