World Cruise 2012 on QM2 features 28 days in Australia

Cunard Cruise Line unveiled a "first" for the cruise line on March 8, 2010 by announcing Queen Mary 2's "Royal Circumnavigation of Australia" as part of World Cruise 2012.  QM2 will be based in Australia in 2012 for a total of 28 nights and "will call at eight Australian ports during her time Down Under including Sydney, Fremantle, Adelaide and the Whitsundays, as well as maiden visits to Cairns (Yorkey's Knob), Darwin, Melbourne and Brisbane. Her circumnavigation will also include a call at Bali." 

Segments within Australia include: a 22-night voyage departing Sydney on 14 February 2012, a 20-night voyage departing Fremantle on 8 February 2012 and a 21-night voyage departing Adelaide on 11 February 2012.

The cruise line selected is Cunard and the ship is Queen Mary 2. Dates, pricing, and itinerary will be announced later in 2010.  This world cruise group will be departing from New York (Brooklyn) and ending after the full world cruise in Southampton, England or New York (Brooklyn) pending release of the full itinerary from Cunard.

Brooklyn Cruise Terminal
The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal is located at 72 Bowne Street, Brooklyn, New York.  (This is the Red Hook section of Brooklyn.)  To get to the cruise terminal from New Jersey follow the directions below:
 
From New Jersey:
  • South New Jersey:
    NJ Turnpike; south on Turnpike to Exit 13; cross Goethals Bridge to I-278, Staten Island Expressway and cross Verrazano Bridge into Brooklyn. Continue north on Gowanus / BQE and exit at Exit 26 (Hamilton Avenue), After Exit, go down the ramp to Van Brunt Street to its end, make a left turn on Van Brunt and travel 2 blocks and turn right onto Bowne Street to enter terminal.
  • West New Jersey:
    I-78 East to NJ Turnpike to Exit 13; cross Goethals Bridge to I-278, Staten Island Expressway and cross Verrazano Bridge into Brooklyn. Continue north on Gowanus / BQE and exit at Exit 26 (Hamilton Avenue), After Exit, go down the ramp to Van Brunt Street to its end, make a left turn on Van Brunt and travel 2 blocks and turn right onto Bowne Stet to enter terminal.
  • North New Jersey:
    East on I-80 to I-280. Take I-280 east to NJ Turnpike. Travel south on Turnpike to Exit 13. cross Goethals Bridge, then proceed as above.
