St. Patrick's Day 2010 in New York City and New Jersey

New York's legendary Saint Patrick's Day parade will kick off at 11am on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 with NYC Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly as Grand Marshal.  The 2010 celebration is the 248th St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York City with the first taking place before the signing of the Declaration of Independence on March 17, 1762.  It has grown into one of the most beloved parades of the year, and, one of the largest St. Patrick's Day parades in the world.

Parade Route
The Parade starts at 44th Street and marches up Fifth Avenue past St. Patrick's Cathedral at 50th Street all the way up past the American Irish Historical Society at 83rd and the Metropolitan Museum of Art at 83rd Street to 86th Street, where the parade finishes around 4:30 - 5:00 pm. 

Reviewing stands will be located at Fifth Avenue and 64th Street.

Directions from New Jersey

Via Subway
Take your local NJ Transit train to Penn Station New York.  Once in Penn Station proceed to the "E" line subway.  You may pick up the "E" train in Penn Station which is located in the Long Island Railroad area.  Take the uptown E train to the 53rd and 5th Avenue station.


Directions by NYC Bus:
  • From 5th Avenue: take the M1, M2, M3, M4 or M5 to 50th street. Buses run north and south
  • From Broadway: take the M6 or M7 and exit at 50th street. Walk east to 5th Avenue. Buses run north and south
  • From 49th Street: take the M27 or M50 and exit at Fifth Avenue. Buses run east and west.
Walking From Times Square
  • Walk north on 7th Avenue towards 50th Street. Turn right onto 50th and proceed to Fifth Avenue.
 
        By Car
Driving is NOT recommended for attending the St. Patrick's Day Parade.  However if you insist upon driving be sure to use one of the parking garages throughout the city.  Garages can be located by using the links below.  For driving directions click here.
