It’s once again time to celebrate at one of downtown Salt Lake City’s best tasting celebrations. From Sept. 9-12 head to the Holy Trinity Cathedral to dine, dance and enjoy all things Greek at the Greek Festival. Celebrating the 35th anniversary of this event, enjoy food, drink, arts, crafts, dancing and music at this four-day celebration highlighting the Greek culture, food and lifestyle.
One thing is for certain here in Salt Lake City—we have an active Greek population and they know how to eat! Don’t miss your chance to try some less well-known Greek delicacies in addition to old favorites. The main line will lead you through the cafeteria but for the specialty foods including the lamb on a spit, Greek fries and loukoumathes among others, visit the perimeter stalls around the tent. Perhaps the best part of the Greek Festival is that the entire gym is filled with Greek desserts. Favorites include the baklava and macaroons (they didn't make any this year) but everything is delicious and full of Greek love.
Unfortunately, good food and fun does come with a price and the Greek Festival isn't really cheap. It will cost $3 per person to get in the door (Zion's Bank is sponsoring free admission if you print out their coupon) and food is sold a la carte.
For more information, read my review of last year’s event and view the slideshow for a preview of the good food that can be found at the Greek Festival.
